Alice Schafer

   HILLSBOROUGH -— Alice Schafer died Friday at Princeton Care Center, Princeton. She was 70.
   Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she lived in the Bronx, N.Y., before moving to Hillsborough 34 years ago.
   Mrs. Schafer was a bookkeeper employed by Applied Data Research in Montgomery.
   She was vice-president of Hillsborough Senior Citizens Chapter B, a member and former board member of Somerset Valley Players Theater. She was an actress and director in both the Somerset Valley Players Theater and the Village at Franklin Theater.
   She was also active with a group called the Entertainers at the People Care Center in Bridgewater. She was also a volunteer for various organizations in the area.
   Her grandson, Charles Schafer III, is deceased.
   Surviving are her husband, Charles Schafer; two sons, Chuck of Plainsboro and Stephen of Kingston; and a daughter, Catherine Schafer-Turnham of Cumming, Ga.
   A funeral service was held April 3 from the Hillsborough Funeral Home in Hillsborough, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Mary, Mother of God Church in Hillsborough.
   Cremation was private.
