Thomas F. Scurato, 80, died Friday, April 7, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in Monmouth Junction, he was a lifelong resident of Monmouth Junction. An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Scurato retired after many years of service as an operations manager with General Foods Corp. in Cranbury. He was a longtime member and usher of St. Cecilia’s Church in Monmouth Junction.
His wife, Ella Michalko Scurato, is deceased. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Roland and Marie Hannye Scurato of Princeton Junction; three daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Richard Murphy of Belle Mead, Robin and Martin Cheroff of Dallas, and Doreen and Paul O’Sullivan of Little Egg Harbor; four brothers, Anthony, Louis and Blase Scurato, all of Monmouth Junction, and Frank Scurato of South River; three sisters, Ida Leonhardt of Sanford, N.C., Theresa Kish of Monmouth Junction and Immaculata Csontos of Franklin; five grandchildren, Richard, Thomas and Jessica Murphy, Michael Cheroff and Michael O’Sullivan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral was held Wednesday, April 12, at M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction, and was followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Cecilia’s Church, 10 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick. Calling hours were Tuesday at the funeral home.
