Vanderbilt professor to give annual seminary lecture

   Fernando F. Segovia, the Oberlin Graduate Professor of New Testament and Early Christianity in the Divinity School and the Graduate Department of Religion at Vanderbilt University, will deliver Princeton Seminary’s annual Alexander Thompson Lecture 7 p.m. Monday in the Main Lounge of the Mackay Campus Center.
   The title of his lecture is "Postcolonial Biblical Criticism and the Gospel of John." It will be followed by a reception in the private dining room. The lecture was rescheduled from Feb. 3.
   Professor Segovia studied with Elisabeth Schussler Fiorenza at Notre Dame University and taught in the Department of Theology of Marquette University before joining the Vanderbilt faculty in 1984.
   His primary areas of research include method and theory in interpretation, ideological criticism, non-western and minority traditions of interpretations, Johannine studies, and non-western and minority theologies.
