Montgomery age-restricted development to include 218 units on 140 acres

MONTGOMERY "We’re hoping to have a shovel in the ground in the next couple of months," Senior Vice President of Sharbell Development Corp. Tom Troy said Wednesday, speaking of the planned age-restricted housing development to be built on 140 acres northwest of the intersection of Routes 206 and 518.
"We’re hoping to open for sale in early May, and we’re hoping to be starting construction within the next couple of months," Mr. Troy added.
Mr. Troy explained that Sharbell is "at the finish line" with most of its local approvals, and is in the process of "wrapping up" the few remaining outside agency approvals, which include sewage extension permits, he said.
Planning Board Chair Steven Sacks-Wilner said of the development, "The township is excited about the prospective opening of Sharbell. It will add people to the area that we’re evolving into a pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly commercial center. At the same time, it has a positive fiscal impact and should help with taxes."
The Sharbell plan calls for 218 age-restricted units, 30,000 square feet of offices and an assisted-living facility. The site is behind the Route 206 Tiger’s Tale restaurant.
The development, called "Tapestry at Montgomery," will call for 180 detached units and 38 duplex-style units.
The project will also result in the creation of a Master Plan loop road intended to relieve traffic in the heavily traveled intersection of Route 518 and 206, Mr. Troy said.
