Anthony L. Bersani
Mr. Bersani, 47, of East Brunswick, died April 17 in Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. He began his career as a stringer/freelance reporter for the Associated Press. He worked for the Atlantic City Press and the Asbury Park Press before being named managing editor of The Home News (now Home News Tribune). He later worked for Dow Jones, South Brunswick, before returning to the Associated Press as project manager, where he worked for the past three and one-half years. He was predeceased by his father, Angelo C. Bersani. Surviving are his wife, Stacey McDonnell Bersani; a daughter, Angela Bersani, at home; his mother, Pauline Bersani of Elk Township; a brother, Angelo C. Bersani Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; and a sister, Carolyn Ferrucci of Franklin Township, Gloucester County. A Mass is planned for 10:30 a.m. on April 20 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Edward C. Reu Sr.
Mr. Reu, 76, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died April 6 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Festa Reu; four daughters, Deborah Haydu, Patricia Karpf, Barbara Reu and Elaine Reu; two sons, Carl Reu and Edward Reu; four sisters, Florence Byrnes, Elaine Yarros, Edith Festa and Jeanette Festa; two brothers, Andrew Festa and Sam Festa; and eight grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Fords section of Woodbridge. Interment was in Shoreland Memorial Park, Hazlet.
Arthur A. Taddio
Mr. Taddio, 77, of Old Bridge, died April 10 at home. He was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Taddeo. Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Carol Taddio of Matawan. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, Keyport. Interment was in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Hopelawn. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Marianne Phyllis Rosen
Mrs. Rosen, 59, of Freehold, died March 26 at home. Prior to retiring in 2005, she was employed for 37 years by the Old Bridge Township Board of Education as a learning-disabilities specialist. Surviving are her husband, Steven Rosen; a son, David Rosen of Freehold; three daughters, Jennifer Rosen of Philadelphia, Stacy Mehlberg of Arlington, Va., and Allison Rosen of Harrisonburg, Va.; a sister, Lois Quinlan of Old Bridge; and four grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Freehold Township. Interment was in St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia section of Woodbridge. Stanley B. Wojcik
Mr. Wojcik, 72, of Sayreville, died March 31 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. Prior to his retirement in 1992, he was employed as a heavy-machine installer with E.I. DuPont, Parlin section of Sayreville, where he worked for more than 30 years. A daughter, Sharon B. Pelley, died in 2005. Surviving are a daughter, Karen Wojcik Ennis of Winterville, N.C.; a son, Stanley “Butch” Wojcik of Greenville, N.C.; a son-in-law, Joseph J. Pelley IV of Bedminster; a sister, Antoinette Wojtaszek, and two brothers, John and Walter Wojcik, all of Sayreville; and five grandchildren. A service was offered at Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. Cremation was private.
Annemarie C. Coryat
Mrs. Coryat, 68, of Old Bridge, died April 10 at home. Her husband, Robert, died in 1993. Surviving are four daughters, Catherine A. of the Cream Ridge section of Upper Freehold, Annemarie M. of Plainsboro, Robin L. of Old Bridge and Susan E. Thomas of Pennsylvania; a brother, Joseph Mackie of Wayne; a sister, Margaret Pezzella of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and 10 grandchildren. A Mass was celebrated at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Catherine Glynn Dittman
Mrs. Dittman, 85, of Sayreville, died April 12 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was predeceased by her first husband, Stanton W. Glynn, in 1975; her second husband, Louis Dittman, in 1992; and two grandchildren, Joseph Nowak and Lisa Farmer Lavin. Surviving are three daughters, Joyce South of Sayreville, Lois VanPell of the Parlin section of Sayreville and Karen Morris of Allentown; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Sayreville First Presbyterian Church. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River.
Elmer W. Pierson
Mr. Pierson, 88, of Spotswood, formerly of South River and Monroe, died April 15 in JFK Medical Center, Edison. Prior to his retirement in 1981, he was a millwright for National Lead Co., Sayreville, where he worked for 40 years. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathryn Wales, who died in 1981, and by a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Pierson, who died in 1996. Surviving are his wife, Winifred Weiss Pierson; two sons, Richard Pierson of North Brunswick and Glenn D. Pierson of East Hanover; and four granddaughters. Services were held at Spotswood Reformed Church. Interment was in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Frank Coraggio
Mr. Coraggio, 88, of Old Bridge, died April 13 at home. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth, in 1994. Surviving are three sons, Peter of Hawaii, Francis of Florida and Paul of South River; a daughter, Lysette of Old Bridge; three brothers, Amedeo of Long Island, N.Y., Anthony of Colorado and Ben of Florida; three sisters, Margaret Quatse of Lavallette, Vera Gavarny of the Forked River section of Lacey and Violet Siegello of the Toms River section of Dover; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Services were held at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge. Interment was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Bloomfield. Edward S. Jackowski
Mr. Jackowski, 73, of Sayreville, died April 14 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was predeceased by a grandson, Matthew Dunn. Surviving are his wife, Betty Walus Jackowski; four children, Kathleen Barone and Edward Jackowski, both of Sayreville, Nancy Dunn of the Sewell section of Mantua and Beth Schiliro of East Brunswick; three sisters, Hattie Schuberda of Florida and Natalie Wornowicz and Josephine Ciak, both of Sayreville; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sayreville. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Virginia Caroline Merrill Meitzner
Mrs. Meitzner, 96, of Old Bridge, died April 10 at home. Her husband, Dr. Erich F. Meitzner, died in 1992. Surviving are two sons, Eric P. Meitzner of Old Bridge, with whom she resided, and Dr. Carl F. Meitzner of Bethlehem, Pa.; two daughters, Lee M. Bookbinder of Bryn Mawr, Pa., and Martha Yocum of Williamsburg, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Old Bridge. Interment was in Forest Hills Cemetery, Montgomery County, Pa.
