Hopewell Valley Schoolhouse offers courses

Adult school program designed to appeal to variety of interests

The Hopewell Valley Parks and Recreation Department is offering a spring season of social enrichment classes offered under the banner, Hopewell Valley Schoolhouse. This new adult school program is designed to appeal to a variety of interests.
Experiences in Clay will explore the many possibilities of hand-building clay. Painter Susan Ewart will demonstrate basic watercolor techniques using different subject matter each week in her Watercolor Workshop. The department is creating its own sewing circle to learn new methods for quicker results. Sew Simple will refresh skills and create and complete a brand new project for spring.
Computer classes being offered include: Power Point Plus, which will teach participants how to create slide shows by choosing layouts, designing slides, customizing text and inserting graphs, clip art, and images; Microsoft Word 2003, which will offer the basics of word processing; Intro to Internet and E-Mail, which will provide hands-on time using the Internet, discovering and exploring useful Web sites.
A Healthier You Inside & Out is a course for super moms, housewives, and single professionals struggling to balance family, work and play. In four weeks, this program will motivate participants to eat healthier, exercise more efficiently, and feel more confident about themselves.
Beginning Weaving is a hobby for individuals looking for a new creative outlet. Looms and all materials are provided in the beginner’s class where students will explore plain weave and twill, while creating a sampler on a prewarped loom. Weavers will learn to warp the loom and design and weave a cotton towel.
