League to ‘demystify’ county government

Session slated for May 4

So what does a freeholder do? Who are the freeholders and where do they meet? And how do their votes directly affect local property taxes?
"Demystifying County Government" — providing the answers to these and other questions residents might have — is the topic of an informal meeting being sponsored by the Hopewell Valley League of Women Voters on May 4.
The public is invited to attend the meeting, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Hopewell Valley Bank, located in the new shopping center near Starbucks on Route 31, Hopewell Township.
League member and Pennington resident Liz Muoio, a Mercer County freeholder, will lead the discussion.
The League of Women Voters, founded in 1920, has had an active Hopewell Valley chapter for 45 years. For membership, call Joann Held at 737-0867.
Voter information is available at 1-800-792-VOTE, or at: www.lwvnj.org.
