A call about a suspicious van led to the arrest of an Edgewater Park man in the parking lot of the Wawa on Route 130 last week.
According to police, officers were sent to check on the van around 2:30 a.m. on April 14 and found the driver, 35-year-old Timothy Cross, slumped over the steering wheel. Smelling alcohol on Mr. Cross’ breath, police searched the van and found three folding knives and a switchblade knife, plus a 22-inch nightstick stuffed between the seats, according to the report.
Police said officers took Mr. Cross to their headquarters where he reportedly refused to submit to a breath test. He was charged with the refusal, driving while intoxicated and two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon. He was taken to the Burlington County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
Police charged Andrew McCully, 24, of Eastampton with driving while intoxicated, speeding and reckless driving after a speeding stop on Route 130 on April 12.
According to police, officers stopped Mr. McCully near Cedar Lane and immediately smelled alcohol on his breath. After failing sobriety tests, he was charged at 9:49 p.m. and released to the custody of a family member.
