HILLSBOROUGH Robert J. Poltarak died April 16 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. He was 85.
He was born in New York City, New York, raised in Massachusetts and was a resident of Hillsborough since 1950.
Mr. Polarak was an office manager of the eastern district for the Beckman Coulter Corporation for 35 years before retiring in 1981.
He served his country in the United States Army 7 Signal Corps during World War II. While in the war, he landed with MacCarthur in the Philippines.
He was a member of the Thomas J. Kavanaugh V.F.W. Post 2290 in Manville and the Hillsborough Senior Citizens Group A.
He was a communicant of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church in Manville.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Poltarak of Hillsborough; two sons, Robert S. of Chicago, and Rick of Phillipsburg; a daughter, Adrienne Ritter of Cincinnati; one sister, Mary Vogel of Port Charolette, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
The funeral was held April 19 from Ketusky Funeral Home in Manville, followed by a Mass at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
