Road work planned for Hopewell’s East Broad Street

Milling, paving scheduled to begin April 26

Hopewell Township police Chief George Meyer reported April 20 that the Mercer County Highway Division will be milling and paving East Broad Street in Hopewell Borough and Hopewell Township, from Greenwood Avenue to Aunt Molly Road.
The work is scheduled to begin on April 26 and is expected to continue until May 12.
Chief Meyer said Friday that Mercer highway officials have "advised us that because they are unable to identify a suitable detour for this project, the road will remain open while the milling and paving is going on. Police will alternate traffic using one lane. Message boards will be placed out along Broad Street and Princeton Avenue notifying residents of the work and warning them to expect delays. Area residents would be wise to avoid the area while the work is going on."
Work will not begin until after 9 a.m. and will end before 3 p.m., so the road is open for both morning and evening rush hours. Officers will be assigned to the job.
"Exceptions will have to be made for local residents/school buses," the chief said.
