FREEHOLD – The Monmouth County Planning Board’s Environmental Council is hosting a seminar titled “Concepts for High-Performance Buildings and Community Development” given by the U.S. Green Building Council on Thursday from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Monmouth County Agricultural Building, 4000 Kozloski Road, between Route 537 and Route 33.
The U.S. Green Building Council is the nation’s foremost coalition of leaders from across the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work. Members of the U.S. Green Building Council will present techniques to influence and guide sustainable development on a community level, explain energy-efficient technology available for municipalities to use in order to proactively save taxpayers’ money, and provide examples of recent, local, successful initiatives.
The Monmouth County Environmental Council, created by the Monmouth County Planning Board in 1972, consists of 10 members who are appointed by the Board of Chosen Freeholders. Its primary function is to inventory and evaluate the physical and natural features of the county, and prepare recommendations to the Planning Board concerning priorities for preserving and protecting the ecology of Monmouth County.
The council recognized that, in this time of skyrocketing energy bills, it is beneficial to explore opportunities to conserve energy through new technology in architecture and community planning and to offer this information to the public in an event for officials who have the ability to implement change in public buildings. However, anyone with an interest in this topic is welcome to attend.
Although this event is free, the council asks those wishing to attend to register in advance. To do so or for additional information on the Monmouth County Environmental Council, contact the staff liaison Jessica Kubida at (732) 431-7460 or at [email protected].
