Neve Shalom to present memorial lecture May 7

Congregation Neve Shalom will present the Israel Segal Memorial Lecture at 10 a.m. May 7 at the synagogue, 250 Grove Ave., Metuchen. Dr. Eric Goldman, founder of ERGO Media and a film reviewer, will speak about “Cinema and the American Jewish Experience.”

Goldman received his doctorate in cinema studies from New York University.

He teaches film at Yeshiva University’s Stern College for Women, Beren Campus, New York City, and Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY).

He also moderates films for the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research and Yeshiva University, both of New York City. In addition, he is the author of “Visions, Images and Dreams: Yiddish Film Past and Present.” The program, which is sponsored by the Israel Segal Memorial Fund and the Segal family, is free and open to the public.
