Anthony L. Bersani
Mr. Bersani, 47, of East Brunswick, died April 17 in Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. He began his career as a stringer/freelance reporter for the Associated Press. He worked for the Atlantic City Press and the Asbury Park Press before being named managing editor of The Home News (now Home News Tribune). He later worked for Dow Jones, South Brunswick, before returning to the Associated Press as project manager, where he worked for the past three and one-half years. He was predeceased by his father, Angelo C. Bersani. Surviving are his wife, Stacey McDonnell Bersani; a daughter, Angela Bersani, at home; his mother, Pauline Bersani of Elk Township; a brother, Angelo C. Bersani Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; and a sister, Carolyn Ferrucci of Franklin Township, Gloucester County. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Pauline Dellin
Mrs. Dellin, 87, of Edison, died April 18 at Brighton Gardens, Edison, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, and educated at the American University there, she immigrated to the United States in 1948 and worked in New York City as an executive secretary and translator. She moved to Burlington, Vt., in 1958 and continued her work as a translator for the U.S. Department of State. In 1983 she retired and moved to Falls Church, Va., and in 1995 she moved to Edison. Mrs. Dellin was predeceased by her husband, Lubomir Dellin, in 1980; and a brother, Michael Padev, in 1990. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Danielle Bellavance Dellin, and two grandchildren, all of Middletown. A memorial service was held at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Edward C. Reu Sr.
Mr. Reu, 76, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, died April 6 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Festa Reu; four daughters, Deborah Haydu, Patricia Karpf, Barbara Reu and Elaine Reu; two sons, Carl Reu and Edward Reu; four sisters, Florence Byrnes, Elaine Yarros, Edith Festa and Jeanette Festa; two brothers, Andrew Festa and Sam Festa; and eight grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Fords section of Woodbridge. Interment was in Shoreland Memorial Park, Hazlet.
Charles R. Metzger
Mr. Metzger, 62, of Old Bridge, died April 3 in JFK Medical Center, Edison. He was an auto painter with McDonagh Dodge, Metuchen. Surviving are his wife, Joan DelMestre Metzger; a daughter, Natasha Masi of Old Bridge; a sister, Margaret Biedrzycki of Milford, Pa.; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass was offered at St. Ambrose Church, Old Bridge. Interment was in Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth.
Geoffrey Ernest Yarnall
Mr. Yarnall, 62, of Monroe, formerly of Jamesburg, died April 3 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. His father, James, died in 1976. Surviving are three sons, Victor of Bedminster, Craig of the Colonia section of Woodbridge, Keith of Milltown; his mother, Rose Trowbridge Yarnall of the Somerset section of Franklin; a brother, Richard of Piscataway; a sister, Catherine Parse of Delta, Colo.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A service was held at Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Cremation was private. Stella Trawinski Phillips
Mrs. Phillips, 89, of the Parlin section of Sayreville, formerly of Perth Amboy, died April 17 in Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge division. She was predeceased by a son, Ted Oblinski. Surviving are her husband, Sylvester Phillips; two stepsons, Frank Phillips of Knoxville, Tenn., and George Phillips of Edgewater, Fla.; a brother, Stanley Trawinski of Monroe; and a step-grandson. A Mass was offered at St. Stephen’s Church, Perth Amboy. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin.
Ernst Perkuhn
Mr. Perkuhn, 71, of East Brunswick, formerly of Spotswood, died April 18 at home. He was founder and coach of the Spotswood Kickers, the first borough-sponsored soccer team. His wife, Beate, died in 2005. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Peter and Bonnie of West Windsor and Udo of Edison; and two sisters, Wilma of Spencer, W.Va., and Alice of Munich, Germany. A private service was held at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Arrangements were under the direction of Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick.
