Georgian Court to host trip to ‘The Color Purple’

Georgian Court University is sponsoring a trip to New York City for a performance of “The Color Purple” on May 7. The trip is open to the public. The bus will depart from the university’s Seventh Street gate in Lakewood at 10 a.m. for the 2 p.m. show.

Based on Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel and the film by Steven Spielberg, “The Color Purple” tells the story of a woman who, through the power of love, triumphs over adversity and discovers her unique voice in the world. The score features gospel, jazz, ragtime, and the blues written by Grammy Award winners.

The cost is $150 per person and includes orchestra seating, round-trip transportation from the university, and snacks. Guests will need to make their own arrangements for lunch.
