Ernest H. Winter Jr.
   Retired Army Col. Ernest H. Winter Jr. of Lawrence died April 18. He was 85.
   Born in Orange, he graduated from The Lawrenceville School in 1940 and Williams College in 1950.
   He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and attended officer candidate school. He fought in Europe as an artillery officer during World War II and was awarded the Silver Star for valor.
   After the war, he served in Germany, Saudi Arabia and several posts in the United States.
   Following his retirement, he was director of alumni affairs for The Lawrenceville School.
   He was a member of Trinity Church in Princeton, the Springdale Golf Club and the Nassau Club.
   His great enthusiasms were his family, golf, and his late beloved poodle, Laddie.
   Father of the late Bruce Winter, he is survived by his wife, Mary-Ann; daughter Hilary Winter of Princeton; son John Winter of Hamilton; son-in-law John Thurman of Princeton; brother Bruce B. Winter of Sarasota, Fla.; and grandson Bruce W. Thurman.
   The funeral was private.
   Burial was in the Lawrenceville Cemetery.
   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Lawrenceville School.

Laurie W. Krysa
   HAMILTON TOWNSHIP — Laurie "Larry" W. Krysa died Saturday in Capital Health System at Fuld in Trenton. He was 87.
   He was born and raised in Morrisville, Pa. After his marriage, he and his wife moved to first to Trenton and then to Lawrence. After his wife’s death, he moved in with his daughter in Hamilton, where he resided for the last several years.
   Mr. Krysa was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from November 1942 until September 1945.
   He retired in 1979 after 30 years of service with General Motors in Ewing. Mr. Krysa worked in Department #8 as a plating foreman.
   He was a member of St. Hedwig’s Roman Catholic Church. Mr. Krysa loved his vegetable garden, especially his tomato plants.
   Son of the late George and Victoria Zalucki Krysa, husband of the late Rose Belza Krysa, and brother of the late Helen Straszynski, Mary Bonderchuck and Ann Sims, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Kathleen and Louis Datello; two sons and daughters-in-law Larry and Jamie Krysa, and George and Chris Krysa; five sisters and their spouses, Sally and Hank Dymonski, Betty and Howard Strobele, Eileen Pionowski, Lynn Echinger, and Marge and Don Habel; a grandson, Edward Tobie and his wife, Ana; a great-grandson, Kurt Tobie; and many nieces and nephews.
   The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton.
   Burial will be in New St. Hedwig’s Cemetery, Ewing.
   Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. today at the Colonial Home.

Esther A. Trainor
   
Esther A. Trainor of Lawrence died Friday at CareOne at Ewing. She was 94.
   Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong area resident. She and her late husband owned and operated the John F. Trainor Court Reporting Firm of Trenton for over 40 years. Previously, she was the office manager for the Stacy Trent Hotel in Trenton for over 15 years.
   Ms. Trainor was a lifelong member of the Trenton Country Club.
   Daughter of the late Pasquale and Appolonia Arbitell, wife of the late John F. Trainor, and sister of the late Fay Cattani, and Vera, Mollie, John and Alexander Arbitell, she is survived by a niece and her husband, Sandra and Robert Durst of Lawrence; two nephews and their wives, Robert and Patricia Cattani of Lloyds Neck, N.Y., and John and Adele Arbitell of Hamilton; and several great-nieces and nephews and their families.
   Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday at the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrenceville Road.
   Burial was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hamilton.
   Arrangements are under the direction of the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave., Ewing.

Constance H. Thornton
   EWING — Constance H. Thornton died Saturday at Compassionate Care Hospice in Trenton. She was 80.
   Born in Trenton, she lived in Lawrence, and Pennington before moving to Ewing in 2005.
   Ms. Thornton worked for New Jersey Bell Company for 35 years and retired as a supervisor in 1983. She relished traveling to visit her children, grandchildren and friends around the country.
   Ms. Thornton was an active member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and was a member of the Bethany Women’s Society.
   Daughter of the late William C. Hillman and Teresa Bowes Hillman, wife of the late Harry W. Thornton, she is survived by daughter Beverly Thornton and husband Richard Landau of Austin, Texas; a son Timothy Thornton and wife Barbara of Fort Mill, S.C.; daughter Wendy and husband Edgar Dunham of Ewing; a son Scott Thornton and wife Jennifer of Manchester, N.H.; and six grandchildren Katherine and Elizabeth Dunham, and Kevin, Bridget, Margaret and John Thornton.
   The funeral will be held 10 a.m. today at Bethany Lutheran Church, 1125 Parkside Ave., Trenton.
   Burial will follow in Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, Ewing.
   Memorial contributions may be made in Ms. Thornton’s name to Bethany Lutheran Church, The American Heart Association, 2550 U.S. Highway 1, North Brunswick, NJ or the Arthritis Foundation, Washington, D.C.

L. Nicholas Weltmann
   HAMILTON — L. Nicholas Weltmann Sr. died Saturday at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton. He was 84.
   Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident.
   Mr. Weltmann was a teacher and administrator in the Lawrence public school system from 1952-70.
   After his retirement, he was the math and science coordinator at Pennsauken Township school system from 1971-80. He later taught at the Princeton School for Exceptional Children and Villa Victoria Academy.
   He was a graduate of Trenton High School, Class of 1939 and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics from Trenton State College.
   He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hamilton Square where he served as elder deacon and several adult bible studies.
   He was a U.S. Navy veteran of both World War II and Korea, serving nine years active duty on various ships and he was a member of American Legion Post 93.
   Mr. Weltmann volunteered for many years at St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center, assisting patients by pushing wheelchairs.
   Son of the late Michael and Julia Weltmann, father of the late Michael Weltmann and brother of the late Elsie Voorhees, he is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jennie Matera Weltmann; two sons and a daughter-in-law L. Nicholas Weltmann Jr. of Franklin Township, and Richard and Linda Weltmann of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Julia, Rebecca, Alex and Lydia Weltmann; two sisters, Yolanda Cloney of Trenton and Peggy Fitch of the Poconos, Pa.; one brother-in-law William Voorhees of Ewing; and also nieces and nephews.
   The funeral was Wednesday at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, Hamilton. Burial was in Fountain Lawn Memorial Park, Ewing.

Nancy A. Peroni Massaro
   TRENTON — Nancy A. Peroni Massaro died April 20 at her residence. She was 71.
   Born in Trenton she was a lifelong resident. She retired from the City of Trenton, Board of Education and was a member of St. Joachim Senior Citizens Club.
   Daughter of the late Vincent and Elizabeth Bartolomei Peroni, wife of the late Peter V. Massaro Jr., sister of the late John, Andrew, Alfred, Richard and Angelo, and sister Philomena Peroni, she is survived by her children, Peter V. Massaro III and his fiancée, Michelle Bowling of Trenton, Joseph and wife Susan C. Massaro of Lawrence, Julieann and husband Charles F. Prettyman, Marie A. and husband Michael D. Heath, and Theresa E. and husband David Adamson all of Hamilton; brothers William, Joseph and Maurice Peroni, all of Trenton; grandchildren Dean Massaro, C.J. and Shannon Leigh Prettyman, Michael and Madison Heath and Ashley Adamson; and several nieces and nephews.
   The funeral was Tuesday from Gruerio Funeral Home, Trenton.
   Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Our Lady of the Angels Parish-St. Joachim Church, Trenton.
   Entombment was in the Madonna Mausoleum at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton.

Samuel Fama
   FRANKLIN — Samuel Fama died April 18 at St. Peter’s University Hospital at New Brunswick. He was 93.
   Born in Anita, Pa., he and his family moved to Messina, Sicily when he was 18 months old. He returned to the United States in 1929, settling in New Brunswick. He had been a resident of Somerset since 1945.
   He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served on a destroyer during the Normandy invasion as well as in campaigns against the Japanese military. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
   He was a former tailor with Bond Clothes Co., and a barber at Midstate Barbershop.
   Son of the late Peter and Petrina Fama, husband of the late Carmela Mazza Fama and grandfather of the late David Serge, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Chris Fama of East Windsor; his daughter and son-in-law, Petrina and Anthony Serge of Lawrence; his brother, Dominick Fama of North Brunswick; and grandchildren Kiralie Fama and Kimberly Serge.
   The funeral was Friday at Gowen Funeral Home, 239 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick. Entombment was in St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick.

Edward P. Kuzma
   TRENTON — Edward P. Kuzma died April 19 at his residence. He was 78.
   Born in Trenton, Mr. Kuzma was a lifelong city resident. He was a veteran, who served in the U.S. Navy with the Pacific fleet. He retired in 1990 after 25 years service with the Friction Division of Thiokol Corporation in Trenton.
   Son of the late Peter and Frances Rekowski Kuzma, and brother of the late Chester Kuzma, Agnes Van Zant, Helen Salender, and Lillian "Honey" Endrezejewski, he is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Ann Kuzma of Lawrence; four nephews and their spouses, Robert and Patricia Salender, Joseph Salender, Brian Kuzma, and Gary and Kathy Endrezejewski; three nieces Barbara Zelnak, Peggy Ann Endrezejewski, and Brenda and husband Diego Tempesta; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
   The funeral was Monday from the Winowicz Funeral Home, Trenton.
   Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday at the Divine Mercy Parish Church of the Holy Cross, Trenton.
   Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hamilton.

Charles J. Zimmer Jr.
   TRENTON — Charles J. Zimmer Jr. died Sunday at St. Francis Medical Center. He was 84.
   Born in Trenton, he had resided most of his life in Trenton.
   Mr. Zimmer was a retired caster with Trenton Potteries and later worked for Coca-Cola and later worked as a pressman for Dow Jones in South Brunswick.
   He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
   Mr. Zimmer was a life member of Lawrence Township Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3022 and a former member of Lawrence Lodge #2412 B.P.O.E.
   Son of the late Charles Sr. and Nellie Backes Zimmer, husband of the late Eugenia Florence Stoy Zimmer, brother of the late Frank Zimmer and Ellen Scullion, grandfather of the late Robert Gore, he is survived by two daughters Patricia Gore and Barbara Zimmer and her husband, John McCullough; a son Charles J. Zimmer III and his wife, Donna; four grandchildren George Gore and his wife, Jaime, Katie Gore and John William McCullough and Aimee McCullough; and a great-granddaughter Brianna Gore. Also surviving are a brother William G. Zimmer and his wife, Stephanie, and several nieces and nephews.
   The funeral will today at 9 a.m. from Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road.
   Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church in Trenton. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hamilton.
   In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Mr. Zimmer’s memory be made to American Legion Post #458, Rehabilitation Fund, 1438 Brunswick Ave., Trenton, NJ 08638.
John Fiabane
   PRINCETON —John Fiabane of Princeton died April 19 at Acorn Glen Assisted Living Residence. He was 92.
   Born in Dortmund, Germany, he grew up in Feltre, Italy, where he was trained as a cabinet maker.
   He served in the Italian Elite Alpine Division during World War II and immigrated to the United States in 1949 with his wife and three children.
   He was a member of Local 783 Carpenter’s Union, Roma Eterna Society and Italian American Sportsmen Club.
   Husband of the late Virginia Fiabane, he is survived by his brother, Quinto, in Feltre, Italy; daughter Carla Olsen of Griggstown; sons Dino of Cherry Hill and Bruno of Lawrence; and grandchildren Jason of Denver, Krista of Gaithersburg, Md., Amanda of Philadelphia, Elysha of Concord, Mass. and Lauren of Newtown, Pa.
   A private service was held Friday at Kimble Funeral Home, Princeton, followed by a memorial Mass at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Princeton.
Robert Williams
   PRINCETON — Robert Williams died April 16 at University Medical Center at Princeton. He was 80.
   Born in Princeton, he was a lifelong resident.
   He worked as a waiter several restaurants in Princeton.
   He was a graduate of the Witherspoon School and Princeton High School in 1944.
   He was predeceased by his parents James P. and Herbertine Dowers Williams, five brothers, one sister and grandchild Michelle Cook.
   He is survived by his wife, Inez T.; son and daughter-in-law Robert E. and Lisa of Virginia Beach, Va.; daughter Karen Brooks of Princeton; brother and sister-in-law John and Delores of Lawrence and many other relatives.
   The funeral was Friday at First Baptist Church of Princeton.
   Interment was at Princeton Cemetery.
