The Manville Board of Education re-elected Lou Petzinger as president during the board’s Tuesday night reorganization meeting.
There were no other nominations for president and Mr. Petzinger won the spot with unanimous consent.
This will be Mr. Petzinger’s second year as president and sixth year as a school board member.
"We want to continue what we’ve been doing and see what we’re going to do with the budget being defeated," Mr. Petzinger said.
The vice presidency, which will be filled by Janice Mathewson for another year, was also won unanimously. This will be Ms. Mathewson’s second year as vice president and her 10th year on the board.
"We want to continue the same thing that the board has been doing," Ms. Mathewson said, "to continue the same focus on our students. I’m proud of what we’ve been doing. I think we’ve been working very well together and it should continue."
The board approved continuing service with its counsel, team and school physicians, bank, asbestos management company and numerous other firms.
In other business, Mr. Reilly thanked former board members Ken Lessing and Mike Impellizeri for their years of service to the board and swore in new board members Herman Brunn, Andrew Zangara and Ned Panfile.
Mr. Petzinger took the position of delegate to the Somerset County School Boards Association; Ms. Mathewson will hold the delegate seat on the New Jersey School Boards Association and Gary Cortelyou was designated as the representative to the Somerset County Educational Services Commission.
Committee appointments were not announced Tuesday night.
Board members also approved the holding of their bi-monthly meetings in the Alexander Batcho Intermediate School media center every third Tuesday of each month, barring holidays. Work sessions will be held one week prior to the regular meetings.
The next meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. May 8.
