A local high school senior died from injuries sustained in a car accident early Sunday morning when he lost control of the Dodge Neon he was driving.
Nicholas J. Boris Jr., 18, was traveling south on Millstone River Road when his vehicle began to spin clockwise while negotiating a turn. The vehicle struck two mailboxes and a utility pole, coming to rest on the front lawn of a house around 3 a.m.
Nicholas was flown by state police helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he died at 9:15 a.m.
There were no passengers in the vehicle. The cause of the accident is still under investigation by both township police and the Somerset County prosecutor’s accident reconstruction team.
Nicholas was a junior varsity athlete for both the soccer and track teams at Hillsborough High School and worked two jobs — one at Pizza Brothers and another at a construction job in New York City.
He attended a junior state trooper boot camp program at the State Police Academy in Sea Girt, and was planning to attend Arizona State University in the Ffall to study criminal justice.
There will be a wake for Nicholas on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and again from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church on Yorktown Road, followed by burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
