WEST AMWELL South Hunterdon Regional High School’s business administrator has resigned, and the district intends to fill the position with an interim administrator.
The Board of Education last week accepted the resignation tendered April 20 by Business Administrator Julie Mumaw. She declined to share her reasons for leaving the district.
"I have other plans," Ms. Mumaw said before the April 27 board meeting. "I’d rather not talk about it."
Ms. Mumaw’s last day of employment at South Hunterdon will be June 30. She joined the district as a replacement for former business administrator Stephanie Hope, who resigned in 2003 after five years.
Superintendent Lisa Brady said the district likely will hire an interim replacement before beginning interviews for a permanent replacement.
"I’d just like to acknowledge Julie for the good work she did for the district and wish her well," said board member Patty Warford.
Special education teacher Tom Vlassenko also resigned effective June 30.
According to Ms. Brady, he is seeking a position closer to his home in Levittown, Pa.
"The associations I’ve made during my employment here will truly be memorable for years to come," Mr. Vlassenko said in his letter of resignation, dated March 23.
Also during the meeting, three recently re-elected members of the board took their oath of office. Robert Campbell, Laurie Weinstein and Boyd Hartpence ran for office without opposition. Mr. Hartpence represents West Amwell. Ms. Weinstein and Mr. Campbell represent Lambertville.
After they were sworn in, the board re-elected Douglas Coleman as president for a third year, and Gregory Danese as vice president, also for a third year.
The board approved the firm of Schwartz, Simon, Edelstein, Celso & Kessler as the school attorney for 2006-07 at a rate of $155 an hour. Paralegal and law clerk services will be paid at the rate of $100 an hour.
The board approved William Colantano as the school auditor at a rate of $125 an hour. Services not performed by a principal in the firm will range between $27 and $100 an hour.
Phillips-Barber Family Health Clinic was appointed as the school physician at a rate of $166 an hour.
