Letters to the editor

From the week of May 4
Family remembers son,

one year later
To the editor:
It has been one year (May 10) since my son Tommy Jaichner passed away. The perpetual ache of losing Tommy is something I cannot describe in words.
We miss and love Tommy so much. He will be in our hearts and souls forever.

Tax time raises

multitude of questions
To the editor:
It sounds catchy, like a song from an old Mel Brooks movie, "Springtime for Hitler." While no one seems to be looking, the township budget is being produced and more then likely passed. Oh where are the people to ask questions? Do we have a police department? Is our grade school safe? Why is the township being sued? How many suits are there? How much will the suits cost? What are the suits about? Can the township avoid the suits? How did the township get into this big debt? Where did the debt come from? Why are the real taxes being raised again?
I would think some of these questions could be asked at the council meetings on May 3 and May 10, but will township people have the time to see what local government is doing? What can be done to get local newspapers interested in local politics and report to local people about local issues? It is just a questionable day!

Resident urges discretion

with Mother’s Day wishes
To the editor:
As Mother’s Day approaches, I would like to address this to everyone who works in public service jobs.
Unless you have personal knowledge that a woman is a mother, please refrain from wishing her a happy Mother’s Day.
Not every woman of childbearing age is a mother. For some of these women, the greeting will be harmless, but for some, it could be devastating. Please bear in mind, that some women are unable to have children . Even worse, some women have lost a child due to miscarriage, sudden infant death, accident, illness or war.
I suggest to you that on Mother’s Day, you simply wish everyone to have a nice day.
The same applies to Father’s Day and Grandparent’s Day.
