Anthony Schiavone

   Anthony E. Schiavone, 88, died Sunday, April 30, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick.
   Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived there all his life until moving to Greenbriar at Whittingham in 1998. He was a tailor for Peter Evangelist & Co., New York City, for more than 20 years. He then became a longshoreman for the International Longshoreman’s Association, working at the 39th St. Pier in New York for 35 years, retiring in 1985. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a communicant of Nativity of Our Lord R.C. Church in Monroe.
   He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Josephine (Nardiello) Schiavone; and 19 nieces and nephews.
   Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 5, at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe, followed by a funeral liturgy at St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, Old Bridge. Entombment followed in Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum, South Brunswick. Visitation was Tuesday, May 2, at the funeral home.
