JAMESBURG The Borough Land Use Board will consider a revised proposal for the subdivision of a lot at the corner of Gatzmer Avenue and Front Street, Thursday.
The lot is home to a historic house that could have been demolished under plans no longer under consideration.
The proposal, submitted by Monroe-based developer and Realtor John Profaci, calls for subdividing the 26,568-square-foot lot into three conforming lots and building two new single-family houses.
An earlier proposal submitted by Mr. Profaci that would have torn down the 199-year-old house currently located on the site to make room for a third new house was revised after public outcry over the demolition of the historic house.
Mr. Profaci’s new plan calls for leaving the existing structure in place, facing Gatzmer Avenue, and building one of the two new houses behind the existing one and the second house along side the existing house, facing Front Street.
The revised plan conforms to zoning for the parcel, which is located in the borough’s R-75 zone. Lots in that zone must be at least 7,500 square feet, with a minimum width of 60 feet, a minimum depth of 100 feet and minimum setbacks of 20 feet in the front, 10 feet on the sides and 25 feet in the rear.
