Tung Miao, 90, of Monroe Village, died Wednesday, April 26, at the University Medical Center at Princeton.
He was born in Jiangsu, Jiangyin, China. He lived in Bayside, N.Y., Westbury, N.Y. and retired to Melville, Long Island, N.Y., before moving to Monroe in 2002.
He was a diplomat for the Republic of China in South Africa, studied in the United States, and worked 28 years as a translator for the United Nations Secretary.
Mr. Miao is survived by his beloved wife, Mouchi; children, Beatrice Hwong of Kingston, Evelyn Go of Princeton, Tremont Miao of Wellesley, Mass., and Walter Miao of North Caldwell; and grandchildren, Taylor, Constance, Alison, Brian, Karen, Adrienne, Gregory, Erica and Andrew.
A private viewing was held at Mather-Hodge Funeral Home followed by burial at Kingston Presbyterian Church cemetery on Monday, May 1. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a favorite charity in his memory.
