MONTGOMERY The Montgomery Center for the Arts opened a silent auction for art donated to the center on Sunday, and will conclude the auction May 19, the day the center is holding another event, its "Art of Wine" tasting.
Art of Wine will be held at the 1860 House from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
"The proceeds from the auction will go toward benefiting our education programs, which include art classes for watercolor, live portraiture, photography, sculpture and more, as well as MCA’s renowned Summer Arts Enrichment Program," said Frances Chaves, executive director of the center.
"The public is welcome to call and order reserved tickets now," Ms. Chaves said. "Many of the Princeton-Montgomery area’s most important artists are donating art. Phone bids will also be accepted."
Guests will have the opportunity to sample over 200 new- and old-world wines and taste a wide range of gourmet appetizers and desserts from some of the area’s finest local purveyors, event co-chair Karla Miller said. Those purveyors include Tillie’s Kitchen, Lucy’s Ravioli Kitchen, Tiger’s Tale, Whole Foods Market, Tokyo Sushi, Mehek’s Fine Indian Dining and many others.
The center’s co-host for the event is Towne Wine & Liquor, which is providing an "elegant" array of wines and sommeliers, Ms. Chaves said. Also, PNC Bank is helping to sponsor the event, with other support coming from Montgomery Township.
More than 70 pieces of original artwork and crafts are on display and for sale by local artists, including Lucy McVicker, Marsha Levin-Rojer, Margaret Kennard Johnson, Alice Sims Gunzenhauser, Lore Lindenfeld and more.
"This is a wonderful opportunity to see a variety of artwork by exceptional artists, find those perfect pieces for your home and have fun while supporting a great cause," said Margie Aretz, co-chair of the event. "Photographs, paintings, drawings, prints, ceramics and other media are all included in the show."
Advance tickets for the "Art of Wine" tasting event are $40 for members and $50 for non-members. Tickets at the door are $50 for members and $60 for non-members, with the full ticket price tax-deductible, Ms. Chaves said.
In addition, the center is offering a special door prize: a limited edition print by Lucy Graves McVicker. Also, the first 60 guests to purchase tickets will receive a free commemorative stein.
To order tickets, call the center’s offices at (609) 921-3272.
