Mercer County has announced eight Princeton Township road improvement projects that will be completed in the spring and summer of this year.
The projects will result in improvements to more than eight miles of township roads.
Included in the improvements is the milling and repaving of Harrison Street from Carnegie Lake to the Princeton Borough line.
Four of the projects include the placement of pavement markers. Pavement markers will be placed on the following roads: Rosedale Road from Carter Road to Elm Road, Elm Road from Rosedale Road to Route 206, River Road from Route 27 to the Somerset County line, and Harrison Street from the Princeton Borough line to Route 1.
Three projects include the restriping of the following roads: Rosedale Road from Carter Road to Constitution Hill Road, River Road from Route 27 to Herrontown Road, and Harrison Street from Route 1 to Carnegie Lake.
The initiative is a result of a $700,000 federal grant awarded to Mercer County.
"Since taking office in 2004, we have aggressively taken a back-to-basics approach to restoring and maintaining Mercer County’s road system," Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes said in a prepared statement. "By making these improvements to our roads, we will improve commutes, provide greater safety for our residents and lessen congestion."
Mr. Hughes added that the improvements will enhance quality of life. "These road projects are a continuation to my administration’s commitment to improve the quality of life for all county residents," he stated.
