Signing on as Messenger-Press managing editor
By: Scott Morgan
Though I would like to have the ability to introduce myself personally to all of you, I’ll have to settle for the compromise and do so here.
Hello. My name is Scott Morgan and I am the new managing editor of the Messenger-Press.
A few of you might remember my name and/or face (apologies for the latter) from a few years ago when I was a staff writer for this paper. At the time, I covered Plumsted, Upper Freehold, Millstone and Roosevelt.
Between then and now, I have been a staff writer for the Messenger’s sister publication, the Register-News, covering Burlington County. I had a few good stories, won a few awards, found a few things out and, ultimately, decided it was time to move up and become an editor.
Fortunately for me, the powers that be agreed with my decision.
From here on, I am the main contact at the Messenger-Press. And I want to know what you know. Feel free to call me, write me, drop me an email or send me a fax if there is news happening. We in the press, despite the image we craft for ourselves, do not know everything. We rely on many sources to find information and you, dear reader, are one of them.
Under my stewardship, you can be assured that this paper and its staff will work very hard to be fair, objective and informed. All of us at the Messenger-Press take our responsibilities to journalism, the written word, our sources, our subjects and our readers very seriously. The weight of being responsible journalists is a heavy one, for we, after all, are charged with the public trust.
You have my word that we will do everything we can to maintain your good faith and trust. You also have my word that we will work as hard as we can to represent every facet of our wide-reaching and diverse coverage area, from the rapidly growing neighborhoods of Washington Township to the bucolic outer limits of Upper Freehold, to the historic old-school charms of Allentown, where our office sits. There is a lot of history in this publication and we will try our best to live up to it.
Your thoughts and ideas are important to me and to the Messenger-Press staff. Please feel free to contact me anytime by phone at (609) 259-3478, ext. 105; by fax at (609) 259-1182; by mail at P.O. Box 446, Allentown, NJ 08501; or by e-mail at [email protected].
