Winnie A. Russell
BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP Winnie A. Russell, 83, of Bordentown Township, died Friday in Care One at Hamilton.
She was born in Trenton and resided in the Trenton-Bordentown area all of her life.
She was a retired employee of United States Steel of Fairless Hills where she had more than 29 years of service.
A graduate of Hamilton High School, she was inducted into the Trenton Softball Hall of Fame.
She was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also actively involved with the Bordentown chapter of Deborah.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Miriam Russell of Trenton; nieces and nephews, John and Audrey Russell, Rick and Colleen Russell, Brian and Debbie Russell, Charlene and Tom Pherson and her best friends with whom she resided, Doris Hartman and Jo Varsalona, the three being known as the "Golden Girls."
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday in St. Mary’s Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Joseph J. Ondusko,
Jr.
RIVERSIDE Joseph (Moochie) Ondusko Jr., 51, died Friday at his home.
Born in Bristol Township, Pa., he lived in Roebling most of his life before moving to Riverside.
He was a retired industrial painter with various painting contractors in the area. He liked sports, carpentry work and fishing.
Son of the late Joseph Ondusko Sr. and brother of the late William Ondusko, he is survived by his mother, Helen Partches Ondusko of Florence; a son, Joseph Ondusko III of Manahawkin; a sister, Joanne Darvas of Roebling; a brother, George Ondusko of Florence and a very dear friend and companion, Candy Vezarian of Riverside. He was also the uncle of Jason Darvas, George Ondusko, Jr. and the late Justin Ondusko.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Dennison Funeral Home, 214 West Front St., Florence.
Contributions in his memory may be given to his mother for a special memorial project.
Marie E. Naples
Garzillo
CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP Marie E. Naples Garzillo, 70, died Friday at Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa.
Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong Trenton area resident.
Mrs. Garzillo retired in 1995 after 20 years from S.P. Dunham’s Department Store, Independence Mall, Hamilton Township.
Daughter of the late James and Anna Sivo Naples, 41 year wife of the late Anthony Garzillo, and sister of the late Anthony Naples, Connie Stevenson, and Louise Rago; she is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, James A. and Gena Garzillo, and Rick and Tina Garzillo, all of Hamilton Township and Joe Garzillo with whom she resided; a daughter, Roseann G. Sorrentino of Hamilton Township; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Philomena and Al Fagiani of Trenton, and Gloria and Joseph Costello of Lawrenceville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carmella Mostrangeli, Marie and Tony Packard and Bud Stevenson; 10 grandchildren, Michelle Schemmer, J.T., Jenna, Lia, and Karli Garzillo, Anthony, Joseph, Vinnie, and Toni Marie Sorrentino, and Victoria DeLaGarza; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Brenna Funeral Home, 340 Hamilton Ave., Trenton.

Allan C. Rooney
EMERALD ISLE, N.C. Allan C. Rooney, 64, formally of Crosswicks, died May 4 at his home.
Mr. Rooney retired from the State of New Jersey as a personnel manager, he also retired from the New Jersey Air National Guard and is a past member of the Bordentown Elks Club. He coached various levels of youth sports leagues, was an avid reader and lifelong Notre Dame football fan. Most of all, he was a loving father and husband.
He is survived by his wife, Marga Rooney of Emerald Isle, N.C.; two sons, Sean M. Rooney of Pittsboro, N.C. and Dirk D. Rooney of Bordentown; a daughter, Morgan Deanna Rooney of North Carolina and granddaughter Marcee; sister-in-law, Jane Rooney; two nieces, Maureen and Shannon Rooney and nephew Shane Rooney.
A memorial service was held Saturday at the Emerald Isle Baptist Church.
Donations may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.
Henry N. Bourquin
MANSFIELD Henry N. Bourquin, 83, of the Homestead section of Columbus, died May 4 at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly.
Born in Union City, he resided in Midland Park for 28 years before moving to Homestead 12 years ago.
He was a graduate of Rutgers University. He was a U.S. Air Force P-47 Thunderbolt fighter/bomber pilot during World War II and subsequently retired as a Lieutenant Colonel with 21 years of service. In 1992, he retired as vice-president of Mount Vernon Mills Finance.
He is survived by his wife, Hannah Finger Bourquin of Columbus; his son, Barry, and his wife, Barbara, of Phillipsburg; his daughter, Denise D. Near, and her husband, Robert of Estero, Florida and Beach Haven; a sister, Cecile Skroback of Newington, Conn.; and two grandchildren, Scott Near and his wife, Kelly, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Lauren Near, of Riverton.
There were no calling hours or funeral services.
Robert M. Walsh
FLORENCE Robert M. Walsh, 64, of Florence died May 4 at his home.
Born in Mount Holly, he was a lifelong Florence resident.
He was a retired electronics technician for Forrestal Research Co. at Princeton University where he worked for 15 years.
Prior to that he worked at Hercules Chemical Co. for a number of years. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for five years, was a member of St. Claire’s Church in Florence, was an avid reader and enjoyed watching documentary films on TV. He was a 1960 graduate of Florence High School and held an associates degree from Mercer County Community College.
Son of the late David B. Walsh, he is survived by his mother, Emily Longshore Walsh; a brother Kevin M. Walsh; a niece, Adriane J. Walsh, all of Florence; a nephew, David M. Walsh of Florida.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Dennison Funeral Home, 214 West Front St., Florence. Contributions in his memory may be sent to the Florence Emergency Squad, 700 Summer St., Florence, NJ 08518.
Nicholas Meggyes
ROBBINSVILLE Nicholas Meggyes, 74, died May 3 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Trenton.
He was born in Koszeg, Hungary, moved to the United States with his wife, Maria, in 1956 and was a resident of Robbinsville since 1973.
He was retired from DeLaval Turbine in Trenton, and was a member of St. Stephens Parish, Trenton.
He loved to read, was an avid soccer fan, enjoyed the outdoors and loved spending time with his family.
One of 12 children of the late Louis and Juliana Meggyes, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maria; a daughter and son-in-law, Juliana and Daniel Matthews of New York City; grandson Daniel Matthews of Bordentown; sister-in-law and her husband Anna and Tibor Puskas of Milltown; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were private.
Donations to the American Cancer Society are requested.
Twila A. Szazvay
BORDENTOWN Twila A. Szazvay died May 2 at the Compassionate Care Hospice in St. Franicis Medical Center in Trenton.
Born in Albany, N.Y., she was a longtime resident of the area.
She retired as a social worker from the Johnstone Training Center located in Fieldsboro after many years of dedicated service.
The daughter of the late Adam and Elizabeth Kieda, she is survived by her husband, Peter Szazvay; fours sons, Peter J. Jr., Victor J., Roger J. and Walter J. Szazvay; a brother Walter Kieda; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday at the St. Mary’s Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown.
Matthew R. Edgar
MANSFIELD Matthew R. Edgar, 82, of Homestead at Manfield, died May 2 at Granville House in Burlington Township.
He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and resided in Australia before coming to the United States many years ago.
He served in the Merchant Navy for the United Kingdom during World War II. He had retired as a senior draftsman at Princeton University.
The father of the late John R. Edgar and husband of the late Patricia Edgar, he is survived by his daughter-in-law, Suzanne Edgar of Browns Mills; a sister, Jean Norton of Melbourne, Australia; a granddaughter, Caitlin Edgar, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws in Canada, Scotland, England and Australia and many friends in the United States.
A memorial service was held Saturday from Huber-Moore Funeral Home, 517 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown.

Confessore
MANSFIELD Marion T. Confessore, 73, of Four Seasons at Mapleton died May 2.
She was born in Ozone Park, N.Y. and had resided in Mansfield since 1999.
She was a retired employee of the Prudential Life Insurance Company and was actively involved with numerous committees at the Four Seasons community.
She was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Dominick; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Debbie of Colts Neck, Joe and Sheryl of South Brunswick and Mike and Sue of Manalapan; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Tom Haby of Belle Meade; a sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Tony Palumbo of Belvidere; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial took place Friday in St. Mary Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown.

Peter P. Ercoli
HAMILTON Peter P. Ercoli, 85, died May 1 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident.
He retired after 42 years of service from U.S. Steel in Trenton and was the former manager of the Roman Hall Restaurant in Trenton.
He was a member of the St. Raphael’s/Holy Angels Parish and a member of the Societa Romana, U.S. Steel Workers Union. Among his hobbies, he loved repairing lawn mowers and gardening.
Son of the late Amelio and Sita Caramitti Ercoli, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lynda Orlandi Ercoli; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and William Szelingowski of Bordentown Township and Theresa and Patrick Allen of Forked River; a grandson, William P. Szelingowski; a sister-in-law, Josephine Liccardello of Mercerville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday from the Buklad Memorial Home, 2141 S. Broad St. in Hamilton.

Opielski
BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP Kenneth W. Opielski, 46, died April 28 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
Born in Trenton, he had lived in Bordentown.
He was a maintenance mechanic for Congoleum Tile in Hamilton for the past 15 years.
He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1977 and the Bucks County Technical School.
Son of the late Daniel and Martha Zeyak Opielski, he is survived by fours sons, Nicholas K., currently serving in Iraq, Nathan C., Neil C. and Kyle W. and one daughter, Martha M.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Trish Opielski of Levitttown, Pa., Daniel and Susan Opielski of Langhorne, Pa., and Paul and Beverly Opielski of Levittown, Pa.; seven aunts and uncles; also nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held Friday at M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave., Ewing.
Rafella Marinkos
FLORENCE Rafella Marinkos died Jan. 25 at the Lutheran Home at Moorestown.
Born and raised in Riverside, she lived in Florence for the last 53 years.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held today, Thursday, at St. Claire’s Church in Florence.
