Indie film night: The Independent Films @ Your Library series continues with "AALTRA," at the Lawrence Headquarters Branch of the Mercer County Public Library.
The movie starts at 7 p.m. at the library, located at 2751 Brunswick Pike.
The film tells the tale of two feuding neighbors who become paralyzed after a fight entangles them in farming equipment. Afterward they become friends and embark on a wheelchair-bound, cross-country mission to get even with the agricultural equipment manufacturer.

Flower sale: St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center will host its annual Spring Flower Sale from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The sale include Hanging baskets, annuals, herbs, vegetables and perennials. This is a wonderful opportunity to shop for spring garden plants and Mother’s Day gifts.

Safe Kids Day: St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center, 2381 Lawrenceville Road will host its annual Bike Rodeo and Kids Safety Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The purpose of the event is to provide children ages 3 to 17 and their families with an opportunity to learn about safety and prevention while participating in sports and other recreational activities.
The day includes bicycle inspections conducted by the Economy Bike Shop and the Lawrence Police Department. Bicycle tires, frames, handlebars, chain guards, and reflectors are checked, and parents receive a check-list for each bike indicating if anything needs to be repaired. Children will receive a free bike helmet, which will be fitted by one of the St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center’s therapists.
Children may ride a bicycle safety course and learn about traffic signals, hand signals, parked cars, and how to avoid unexpected obstacles. Volunteers are present at each station of the obstacle course to guide and teach the children.
The free event will also focus on water safety. Drowning remains the second leading cause of death in children ages 1 to 14 and the leading cause of death in children ages 1 to 4. Forty percent of drownings and near-drownings occur near in swimming pools. Water safety programs will be conducted by the Hamilton YMCA and will include games and other activities. St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center will give away a limited number of personal flotation devices for children up to 90 pounds.
The Lawrence Fire Department will provide an engine that the children can ride, and will display a small house designed to teach about fire hazards. The Trenton Titans hockey team and the Trenton Thunder baseball team, will each be on site with their mascots and will provide interactive games for the children.
Bristol-Myers Squibb will present an exhibit on hazardous materials and Coleman Buick Pontiac GMC will provide their Titans Mites-on-Ice truck. Other participants include Children’s Specialized Hospital, The Greater Mercer TMA, Greater Area Trenton YMCA, Lawrence Hopewell Trail, Lawrence Neighborhood Service Center, MRI Center at Lawrenceville, Kidsbridge Children’s Museum, McCaffrey’s Supermarkets, and PNC Bank will also participate.

Ice cream for moms: This Mother’s Day, Cold Stone Creamery, in the Mercer Mall, will honor local moms with the sweetest reward free ice cream
. One free "Love It" size, or medium, ice cream creation will be given to every mother that visits one of the participating stores with her child, or children, during store hours from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Moms can also relax with a complimentary chair massage, provided by Sydney Albert Salon and Day Spa, from 1 to 3 p.m.
Also, anyone who purchases a cake at Cold Stone Creamery will be eligible to win free ice cream for one year. The drawing will be held after 5 p.m.

Garden club meeting: The Garden Gate Garden Club of Lawrenceville will meet at 7 p.m. at the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church, 1039 Lawrence Road.
The program is "Myth Busting the Native Plant Theory" and will cover history of plants and how they’ve changed since colonization. The presenters are Jeannie Francis and Alicia McShulkis, who will be dressed in period clothing.
