Napalese activist to deliver lecture at university today

   Narayan Kaji Shrestha, an internationally recognized organizer and activist, will discuss the political situation in Nepal in a lecture today at Princeton University, according to Isles Inc., the Trenton-based community development and environmental organization hosting the event.
   The talk is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. in Robertson Hall of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs on the Princeton campus. There will be a reception following the lecture.
   Mr. Shrestha received a doctorate in teacher education and a master’s degree in education from Michigan State University. He also received a master’s degree in education from Tribhuvan University’s Institute of Education in Nepal and a bachelor’s degree from the College of Education in Nepal.
   He is the founder of several organizations including the research organization New ERA; the Federation of Community Forestry Users, Nepal; the National Federation of Irrigation Water Users’ Association, Nepal; and the Himalayan Grassroots Women’s Natural Resource Management Association.
   He is a member of the Social Welfare Council in Nepal and chairperson and adviser of more than 100 non-governmental and private organizations.
   In his remarks, Mr. Shrestha will discuss his work in community forestry, women’s issues, AIDS, and working with Women Acting Together for Change, a national non-governmental organization that combats poverty, develops local business opportunities, and addresses health conditions throughout Nepal.
