Womanspace will present the 12th annual Barbara Boggs Sigmund Award to Nina Totenberg, renowned legal correspondent and journalist for National Public Radio, during an award reception to take place Wednesday, May 17, at 6:30 p.m. at Janssen Pharmaceutica in Titusville.
Ms. Tottenberg appears on NPR’s critically acclaimed "All Things Considered," "Morning Edition" and "Weekend Edition." She is also a regular panelist on "Inside Washington," a weekly syndicated public affairs television program.
Named Broadcaster of the Year and honored with the Sol Taishoff Award for Excellence in Broadcasting from the National Press Foundation in 1998, Ms. Totenberg was the first radio journalist to receive the award. She also received the American Judicature Society’s first-ever award honoring a career body of work in the field of journalism and law. She has been honored seven times by the American Bar Association for her continued excellence in legal reporting and has received a number of honorary degrees.
Womanspace provides services to victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Mercer County. Programs include 24-hour hotlines, emergency shelter, counseling, accompaniment to hospitals and police departments and community education.
The Barbara Boggs Sigmund Award was created to honor someone who has followed the example set by Princeton Borough Mayor Barbara Boggs Sigmund (1939-1990) and Womanspace founders Ellen Belknap, Valorie Caffee, Mary Ann Cannon and Deborah Metzger.
