METUCHEN – Georgia “Peachy” Pasha’s inspiration to write her first children’s book was a combination of her recovery from a 26-year battle with a sleeping disorder and her love of making children laugh.
“My mind started waking up,” said Pasha. “My thoughts were flooded with my childhood memories after my mind healed, due to the right medication.”
The children’s book, titled “Jelly Bean & Key Mystery,” is a combination of bits and pieces of her childhood memories mixed with her imagination.
Pasha will be holding a book signing and read some of her book from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on May 21 at The Raconteur Book Store at 431 Main St. in Metuchen.
“The book is a combination of mystery, comedy, action, adventure, real life and life lessons,” she said.
Not only did Pasha write and illustrate the book, she does voices to go with the eight characters in the book.
“I have always done voices on and off to make people laugh,” she said. “Grampy is my favorite voice to do.”
The book consists of a little girl, Lilly, who is the main character; Granny; Grampy; Zach; Brandon; Mom; Dad; and Crystal.
Every character is named after someone important in Pasha’s life.
“Lilly is named after my kitty,” she said. “Zach and Brandon are my two sons. They would have killed me if I didn’t put them in, and Crystal is my niece.”
“Jelly Bean & Key Mystery” came out in January and was published by Rose Dog Publishing in Pittsburgh.
“The book actually only took me two hours to write,” said Pasha. “But it took five months to tweak everything and 10 months to publish.”
Pasha was born and raised in Ohio, along with her six brothers and sisters. She lives in Old Bridge with her husband, Adnan, and kitty, Lilly. She has two sons, Zachary, a Marine who was deployed to Iraq in March, and Brandon, who lives in Ohio.
