Golf event to aid two groups

MANALAPAN – The Yorktowne Club is a nonprofit benevolent organization which is known for serving the needs of the community. Each year, the club through various events raises funds to donate to many organizations in town, such as the volunteer fire companies, the first aid squad, the Samaritan Center and many others.

This year the Yorktowne Club will host its annual golf outing on June 16 at Gambler Ridge Golf Course, Cream Ridge, Upper Freehold Township, with a shotgun start of 8 am.

According to a press release, the funds raised at this event will help support the RjM Foudation and the Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad.

“If you enjoy playing golf and want to help two great causes in the Manalapan-Englishtown area this is the outing to support,” said Frank Scarpa, president of the Yorketowne Club. “Many community members and businesses have been very generous and we are fortunate to have great support from within our community.”

The RjM Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and their families that are affected by any autistic spectrum disorder.

“We identify needs of those families affected in Manalapan and surrounding areas and try to support initiatives that will address those needs,” said Vincent DeTrolio, trustee of the RjM Foundation. “Our hope is to be able to make it bettefor families going through what could be a tough process.”

All members of the Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad are fully trained as emergency medical technicians. All are certified in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), emergency first aid, defibrillation and many other facets of first aid, according to the press release. It is estimated that the squad handles more than 3,000 calls per year.

“The members of the first aid squad proudly serve our community without ever asking for anything in return,” said Scarpa. “This is our chance to help them help our community.”
