Charles T. Misuraca
Mr. Misuraca, 64, of Freehold Township, died May 13 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had lived in Freehold Township for the past 36 years. Before his retirement, Mr. Misuraca was an electrician for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 3, Queens, N.Y. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, where he was a member of the Legion of Mary. He was a past president of the Freehold Township Little League, a former member of the East Freehold Fire Company, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Brooklyn. Mr. Misuraca was predeceased by his wife, Josephine, in 2002. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Julia Misuraca of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Charles T. Misuraca Jr., at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Veronica and John Emrich of Freehold; a brother, Joseph Misuraca of Mahopac, N.Y.; and four grandchildren. Visiting will be held May 17, 2-4 and 7-10 p.m., at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St., Freehold. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church May 18 at 10 a.m., followed by entombment at St. Gabriel’s Mausoleum, Marlboro. Anthony L. Bersani
Mr. Bersani, 47, of East Brunswick, died April 17 in Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. He began his career as a stringer/freelance reporter for the Associated Press. He worked for the Atlantic City Press and the Asbury Park Press before being named managing editor of The Home News (now Home News Tribune). He later worked for Dow Jones, South Brunswick, before returning to the Associated Press as project manager, where he worked for the past three and one-half years. He was predeceased by his father, Angelo C. Bersani. Surviving are his wife, Stacey McDonnell Bersani; a daughter, Angela Bersani, at home; his mother, Pauline Bersani of Elk Township; a brother, Angelo C. Bersani Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; and a sister, Carolyn Ferrucci of Franklin Township, Gloucester County. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Lucille “Dolly” T. Kane
Mrs. Kane, 88, of Freehold, died May 6 at home. She was known as “Gram” to many. Born in Harrison, she had lived in Freehold for most of her life. Prior to retiring, she worked at the Brockway Glass Co., Freehold, and then as a clerk for The McGraw-Hill Cos. in Hightstown. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, for more than 70 years, and a member of the St. Rose of Lima Senior Citizens. She was also an active member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Altar Rosary Society and the Freehold Borough Senior Citizens, as well as a volunteer at the Freehold Area Open Door food pantry, Freehold. Mrs. Kane was predeceased by her husband, John H. Kane Jr., in 1994; four brothers, William, Frank, Joseph and John Mertz; and two sisters, Helen Hart and Rose Wilson. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Roger and Barbara Kane, and Richard Kane, all of Freehold; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Fred Camisa of Freehold Township; 11 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements. Thomas J. Beck
Mr. Beck, 88, of East Brunswick, died April 23 in Saint Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to his retirement in 1978, he was national director of advertising and sales for the Boy Scouts of America, North Brunswick. After that, he worked as an advertising representative for Rossmoor News, Monroe. His first wife, Evelyn, died in 1972. Surviving are his wife, Katherine Gremillot Beck; two sons, Thomas Beck Jr. of Englishtown and Wayne Beck of Jackson; six stepchildren, James Charleston, Jeanne Herbst, Katherine Charleston and Daniel Charleston, all of East Brunswick, Edward Fredric of Monroe and Frances Charleston of Lopatcong; two stepbrothers, William Dillon and Robert Dillon; 23 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Interment was in Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River. Michael A. Schultz
Mr. Schultz, 34, of Manalapan, died April 29 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Rahway, he was a lifelong resident of Manalapan. A graduate of Manalapan High School and Nashville Auto-Diesel College (NADC) in Nashville, Tenn., he was an ironworker for the John Cooper Co., Hackensack, and a member of Ironworkers Local Union 697, Roanoke, Va. He was also a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church and a member of Sons of The American Legion, both of Englishtown. Mr. Schultz was predeceased in 1992 by his father, Joseph W. Schultz Sr., and in 1987 by a brother, Kevin Schultz. Surviving are his mother, Helen Gorton Schultz of Manalapan; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph W. Jr. and Rena Schultz of Freehold; a sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Neil Glasser of Monroe; and five nieces and nephews.
Catherine Steib
Mrs. Steib, 75, of Howell, died May 6 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Marlboro and Middletown before moving to The Villages in Howell in 1998. Before retiring in 1981, Mrs. Steib was the owner of Award Concepts, Eatontown. An avid golfer, she was a former member of the Bamm Hollow and Beacon Hill country clubs. Mrs. Steib was predeceased by her husband, John Steib; and a brother, Joseph Kelly. Surviving are two sons, Raymond Froehlich of Statesville, N.C., and Glenn Froehlich of Brick; two daughters, Cynthia Cook of Paris, N.Y., and Kathleen Flynn of Freehold; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, both in Freehold Township.
JoAnne Elizabeth Egli
Mrs. Egli, 62, of Millstone, died May 9 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she moved to Millstone 28 years ago. Before her retirement in June 2005, Mrs. Egli was a teacher of chemistry and physics in the Freehold Regional High School District. She was an active member of the American Cancer Society and served as assistant liaison to its Relay for Life. Mrs. Egli is survived by her husband, David; a daughter and son-in-law, Marie Catherine and Jeremy Hartlieb of Millstone; a sister, Rita Palumbo of Howell; and two grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Perrineville section of Millstone. Interment was private. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury. The Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
