The Lakewood Chamber of Com-merce will sponsor a Job Shadowing Day with Lakewood High School students. Business owners from Lakewood who are interested in hosting a student can meet the students at the chamber’s general membership luncheon meeting May 23 at Woodlake Country Club, 25 New Hamp-shire Ave., Lakewood. The Goddard School at 65 Kent Road, Howell, received special recognition at the company’s annual convention held at the Westin La Paloma in Tucson, Ariz., April 26-29.
School owner, Jody Donnelly, received numerous awards including the “Quality Assurance Award,” the “Health and Safety Award,” the “Bullseye Award,” and the coveted “Circle of Excellence.”

Checkers has joined forces with Operation Gratitude and America Supports You for the Patriotic Drive, an initiative to send care packages to U.S. troops deployed overseas. Gifts for the troops can be donated at Checkers. The items collected will be used by Operation Gratitude to prepare and deliver care packages to service members overseas in time for the Fourth of July. Donations can be made at Checkers of Howell, 1992 Route 9 south and West Farms Road, now through June 14.
The Carnegie Deli of New York City will be opening a restaurant at Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson, May 29. The world-renowned deli emporium will offer a wide selection of sandwiches, meats, salads and array of tasty desserts, bringing a new dining option to Six Flags Great Adventure.
Named the “most famous” deli in the United States by USA Today, the Carnegie Deli at Six Flags will offer the flavor, traditions and high-quality products of its Manhattan location to theme park visitors.
According to Sandy Levine, owner-operator of the Carnegie Deli, the deli at Six Flags Great Adventure will offer the same ingredients, recipes and freshness as New York’s original deli. The menu at the park will include well-known Car-negie Deli sandwiches with corned beef, hot pastrami, roast beef and turkey, salads, pickled plates, desserts and famous signature sandwiches like the “Woody Allen,” made with corned beef and pastrami.
Here We Grow Child Care Center, 170 North Oberlin Ave, Lakewood, will host a “Business After Hours” Networ-king Event, May 25 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Julie Vanore, vice president of Preferred Behavioral Health, will host the event which will include refreshments, networking, door prizes and information about Lakewood Industrial Park’s only child care center.
