Disability resource fair in Jackson proves need for many services

The Jackson Disability Resource Fair was a great success. I could not have done it without the support and help of the members of the Special Education Advisory Council.

I would like to thank all the vendors and providers that signed up and attended the fair. We received many compliments on how organized and family friendly it was.

The children who attended enjoyed face painting and balloon animals with The Rainbow Lady from Gitsy.com and a karate demonstration from Bryan Klein’s Taekwondo.

We had many local businesses donate items for door prizes. There were tickets from Great Adventure and the Lakewood BlueClaws, gift certificates from Hans Maxim, Perkins, Farley’s Ice Cream, “No Parent Left Behind” book donated by its authors Pamela Petrosino and Lisa Spiegel, a learning game from Super Duper Publications, a gift basket from The Shadow Center and gift bags from Do U A Favor.

I would also like to thank ShopRite, Stop & Shop and the parent organizations from the Crawford-Rodriguez, Elms and Johnson elementary schools and the Goetz Middle School for donating refreshments for the evening.

I feel that I also need to personally thank the custodial staff from Crawford-Rodriguez for all of their support. They went above and beyond to help us organize and make this night successful.

The overwhelming attendance at the fair proves that there is obviously a need for information and resources for families with disabilities in Ocean and Monmouth counties.

I hope that I can continue to help families in our area with resources and support.

My goal is to help as many families as I can, but as long as I have helped one family a year, my goal is met.

Thank you again to everyone who attended and supported our efforts. It is greatly appreciated.
