JAMESBURG — The borough has sent an open invitation for visitors to navigate through town Saturday for a little treasure hunting.
The annual community-wide spring yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine.
The event, organized by the Jamesburg Civic Association, is befitting of the group’s goals of community reinvestment and promoting awareness of what the borough has to offer, President Elliot Stroul said Monday.
"It’s a way to help the people of Jamesburg, and bring people from other areas in to experience the history and quaintness of our town," he said.
Seventeen homes have officially registered to participate in the yard sale. Those addresses will appear on a map that will be available at Lisco’s Country Cafe, Buckelew Mansion, Borough Hall, and Mendoker’s bakery.
Additional yard sales will take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Jamesburg located on the corner of Church Street and Gatzmer Avenue and the First Baptist Church of Jamesburg at 15 Half Acre Road.
In order to free up parking space, Mr. Stroul said no vendors will be allotted space on the sidewalk along West Railroad Avenue this year.
In addition, Buckelew Mansion has offered space in Buckelew Park for those who would rather not have a yard sale at home.
Proceeds from yard sale registration will go to the JCA, which will use the money to recoup expenses associated with organizing the event.
Proceeds from table fees for those who have opted to set up in Buckelew Park will be used to benefit the Jamesburg Historical Association.
While the period to officially register for the yard sale has expired, JHA President Ron Becker is expecting many more residents to participate in the community-wide yard sale, and overall, is anticipating a successful day.
"Anytime people in a community do things together, even though they’re in many different places, is a good thing because it builds community spirit," he said.
