To the editor:
The print media is to be congratulated for its expose about Monroe Mayor Richard Pucci.
Mayor Pucci does not work alone in bending over for developer Jack Morris. Nothing is built in Monroe without the approval of the Planning Board.
The Planning Board consists of:
Mayor Pucci
Councilman John Riggs
David DeMarco
Peter Lumia
David Rothman
Dr. Lloyd Kalugin
Ann Montanti
Dominick Scarano
Len Levene
These nine citizens control the destiny of Monroe Township.
Monroe’s destiny does not look good. Mr. Morris wants to build a baseball stadium and shopping center along Route 33 in Monroe. Whether Monroe actually needs a baseball stadium or not appears to be irrelevant.
These eight will approve the stadium when directed to do so by Mayor Pucci.
The mayor appoints seven board members. They all have ties to the Lynch/Pucci Democratic Party, for better or for worse. These, less-than-magnificent seven, are involved in the current controversies, even though they may be personally above board. It is guilt by association.
One could easily look at the Planning Board members and wonder if any of them have clandestine consulting companies, as the mayor does.
It is time for these seven to resign from the Planning Board. By resigning they will protect their own names and their own integrity.
They, then, can go on with their lives knowing that they did the "right thing."
