Michael DiIoia, 70, died Monday, May 8, at the University Medical Center at Princeton.
Mr. DiIoia was born in Compobasso, Italy, and came to the United States to reside in Somerset in 1956. He moved to Monroe six years ago. He was a past communicant of St. Matthias R.C. Church in Somerset and a current communicant of Nativity of Our Lord R.C. Church in Monroe.
He was a mason-foreman with union Local 5 in New Brunswick. Mr. DiIoia was a member of St. Matthias Holy Name Society. He enjoyed bowling and hunting. He was also a member of the Clearbrook American Italian Club.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Agnes, of Monroe; his sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony M. and Vicki DiIoia of California, and Michael F. and Kate DiIoia of Mount Pocono, Pa.; his daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Jeffrey of East Brunswick; a sister, Maria DiIoia of Italy; and 10 grandchildren, Bailey, William, Kristin, Shana, Elijah, Leshay, Kalia, Rowan, Teryn and Kayla; and a great-granddaughter, Adrieana.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, May 11, at St. Matthias R.C. Church in Somerset. Visitation was at St. Matthias Church. Entombment followed at St. Peter’s Mausoleum, New Brunswick. Services were under the direction of Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., Somerset.
