Michael E. Ryan, 50, of Monroe, died Tuesday, May 9, at Haven Hospice at John F. Kennedy Medical Center, Edison.
Born in the Bronx, N.Y., Mr. Ryan lived in Old Bridge before moving to Monroe six months ago. He was employed as a traffic controller for Metro Trucking Co., Elizabeth. Mr. Ryan enjoyed playing golf, hockey and soccer. He was an avid reader, a fan of horse racing and a big fan of the Boston Red Sox.
His parents, John M. and Mary Ryan, are deceased. He is survived by his daughter, Casey Ryan of Brick; three brothers, Christopher and his wife, Andrea, of Monroe, John of Divide, Colo., and Timothy of Ramseur, N.C.; a sister, Patricia Nemeth and her husband, John, of Monroe; three nephews, John, Christopher and Matthe; five nieces, Jennifer, Marie, Nicole, Katy and Lindsay; and his former wife, Gayle of Brick.
Services were held Friday, May 12, at Lester Memorial Home, 16 W. Church St., Jamesburg, followed by a funeral liturgy at St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, Old Bridge. Cremation was private. Visiting hours for family and friends were Thursday, May 11, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105-1942.
