Montgmery Democrats plan annual Spring Fling

MONTGOMERY — The Montgomery Democratic Organization will hold its annual Spring Fling 4 to 6 p.m. June 4 at the home of Sharon and Bob Powell, 11 Sea Island Court, Cherry Valley Country Club.
Food, wine and soft drinks will be served. Live music will be provided by the Upper Princeton Swing Collective, which includes Montgomery residents Tom McFarland on drums and Cliff Wilson on bass and vocals.
The suggested contribution is $35, or $20 for students and seniors. Proceeds will benefit the campaign of Cecilia Birge and Brad Fay for Township Committee.
In addition to Ms. Birge and Mr. Fay, attendees will include Linda Stender, candidate for U.S. House of Representatives from New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District; Montgomery Mayor Louise Wilson; and Somerville Borough Councilman Dennis Sullivan.
Ms. Wilson and Mr. Sullivan are running for two available seats on the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
Ms. Birge was first elected to the Township Committee in 2003 and currently serves as deputy mayor. A financial expert, Ms. Birge has been instrumental in the township’s efforts to modernize its financial planning and forecasting.
Mr. Fay has served as president of the Van Harlingen Historical Society and as a member of the NPDC Redevelopment Concept Task Force. He has served as a managing director for a global marketing research firm and is now a principal of Keller Fay Group LLC, a startup based in New Brunswick.
