Team finishes 14 strokes under defending champs

The Peddie boys golf team won this year’s Mid-Atlantic Prep League tournament with a score of 221, some 14 strokes better than defending champion Hill. The tourney was played at Peddie.
"We played great," said Coach Bill Leece.
Under the tournament’s Rider Cup format, each school entered three teams of two players. "It is kind of a funny format. I like it. It is a change of pace. The kids played very well." The format called for each team playing the front nine on alternate shots, and the back nine best ball.
Max Bichsel and Preston Combs had a combined score of 70, Warren Taylor and Rob Warfield finished at 73, and Connor Monaghan and George Alexander came in at 78. The Bichsel-Combs’ 70 was the second best score carded in the 12 years of the MAPL tournament, as was the Peddie team’s 221.
Tomorrow the Peddie School will host the state prep tournament.
