The Monmouth County Historical Association will hold a special event to honor and commemorate veterans of World War II on May 28 from 3-5 p.m.
World War II veterans and their families are invited to attend a reception and view the museum exhibition “Home Front” at the MCHA Museum and Library, 70 Court Street, Freehold.
The exhibition will close in June. The general public is also welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.
Funded by a grant from the New Jersey Historical Commission, “Home Front” explores the profound impact of World War II on everyday life in Monmouth County.
Dozens of posters, issued by the Office of War Information to encourage and educate the public, are on view as well as ration books, V-mail, uniforms for Civil Defense and Red Cross women, the plan for Sea Girt’s town Victory Garden and many other items of interest.
The Monmouth County Historical Association’s Museum and Library is at 70 Court St., Freehold. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The library is open Wednesday through Saturday.
