Book fair
   Thursday, May 25 — A book fair will be held in the cafeteria of Bordentown Regional High School, Dunns Mill Road, from 6 to 9 p.m.
   Barnes and Noble will provide a range of titles including children’s books, young adult and adult fiction and nonfiction, best-sellers and bargain books. Proceeds will benefit the library in the new high school slated to open in September.
Memorial Day service
   Monday, May 29 — A community Memorial Day service will be held in Jobstown Veterans Park, behind Springfield Township Municipal building. The event will be held at 10 a.m. and will last approximately one hour.
   Local military, historical and patriotic speakers will be in attendance. In the event of rain, the event will be held in the Springfield Elementary School gymnasium, across the street from the municipal building.
Open house
   Thursday, June 1 — The Cardiology Group of Mount Laurel will hold an open house marking the opening of a new office in Mansfield Commons, 1 Sheffield Drive, Suite 102, Columbus.
   Cardiologists will be on hand to answer questions and staff members will be offering free blood pressure screenings. Refreshments and giveaways are also planned.

Atlantic City trips
   Friday, June 2 — The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter NJ 899 will sponsor a bus trip to Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. Attendees will leave the Bordentown Township Community Center at 9 a.m. and return at 6 p.m.
   Cost is $20 with a return of $25 in coin and a $5 food voucher. A movie, 50/50 raffle and door prizes will be featured. Proceeds benefit veterans and their families.

Clothing drive
   Beginning Friday, June 2 — Spring cleaning is under way so if you’re cleaning out your closets and find you have too many clothes, consider helping out the Parent-Teacher-Student Connection with its clothing drive.
   All types of clothing are needed — new, old and worn clothing will be accepted. Stuffed animals, shoes, drapery, linens, blankets and coats will also be accepted.
   Place all your items in a large trash bag and drop off at the Northern Burlington Middle School barn, 180 Mansfield Road East, Columbus. The barn will be open from dawn to dusk Friday through Monday, June 5. The PTSC supports the high school and middle school.

Social evening
   Beginning Sunday June 4 — The Widows and Widowers of Burlington County will be hosting a social evening of good music and dancing for widows and widowers only on the first Sunday of every month.
   The event will be held from 7 to 10:30 p.m. at the Korean Presbyterian Church, 147 Route 130 North, Bordentown. Admissions is $7 for members and $10 for guests. Refreshments will be served. Call 581-3860 or 298-4174 for details.
Blood drive
   Tuesday, June 6 — St. Mary’s School, Elizabeth Street, Bordentown City, will sponsor an American Red Cross blood drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the St. Mary’s church rectory on the second floor in the parish center.

Historical meeting
   Wednesday, June 7 — The Bordentown Historical Society will hold a meeting open to the public. After a short business meeting at 7:30 p.m. the program will be a presentation by the 325th Anniversary Committee in preparation for the 2007 celebration.
   Larry Denny, Jim Brimmer and Barry Hausser will announce upcoming events and fundraising efforts. Lots of help is needed for every aspect. Any questions prior to the meeting, call Barry at 298-0100.
Strawberry Festival
   Friday, June 9 — The First Presbyterian Church, 435 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown, will host the Strawberry Festival beginning at 6:30 p.m.
   Homemade cakes and ice cream will accompany locally grown strawberries. Enjoy games for the kids, get your face painted, or enjoy a hot dog. Cost of $5 for adults and $2 for children under 12. Buy tickets at the door.
Tot Shabbat
   Friday, June 9 — Tot Shabbat service offered monthly at Temple B’Nai Abraham of Bordentown (58 Crosswicks, www.bnai-abraham.org).
   Open to all children ages 1-6 and their families. Come for candle lighting, potluck dinner, child-friendly service, story and craft from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and Shavuot celebrations.

Ham dinner
   Saturday, June 10 — The Trinity United Methodist Church, 339 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown, will host a buffet-style ham dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Reservations for 4:30, 5, 5:30, 6 or 6:30 should be made, allowing one hour for dinner.
   Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 5-12, and free for kids under 5. Takeout orders will cost $11. Call 758-5453 or 298-0158 for details.
Atlantic City trip
   Sunday, June 11 — The Knights of Columbus 570 will sponsor a bus trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. Departure from St. Mary’s Church, Elizabeth Street, Bordentown, at 4:30 p.m. for a 4-hour stay at the casino.
   Cost is $20 per person including $18 back in cash plus a $5 food coupon. Call Bob O’Dwyer at 298-5530 for reservations.
Golf outing
   Monday, June 12 — The Bordentown Regional School District Education Foundation will sponsor its first golf outing at Cranbury Golf Course at noon. The format will be a shotgun/scramble.
   Entry fee per golfer is $125 and will include greens fee, cart, lunch and a dinner/awards reception. A gift raffle and live auction will also be held after dinner featuring signed sports memorabilia. Non-golfers are welcome to participate in the dinner reception which is $40 per person.
   The event also has several opportunities for sponsorship: event, lunch, beverage cart and hole signs. Donated items for the raffle are also needed. Call Sharon Bokma at 324-9184 or 631-6180 for registration details.
Great Books
   Monday, June 12 — The group will discuss "Prometheus Bound" from the anthology "Great Conversations I" at 7:30 p.m. at the Bohemian Bookworm, 4 West Park St., Bordentown.
   "Of Friendship and Of Solitude" will be discussed June 26 and "Pensees" will be discussed July 10. All are welcome. Call 298-4332 for details.
Volunteers needed
   Saturday, June 24 — Volunteers are needed to help remove invasive (non-native) plants from two locations along the Blacks Creek Greenway in Bordentown. Help preserve native plant and wildlife habitat and help restore a healthy ecological balance along this important stream corridor.
   Locations: Bordentown City Beach (end of Park Street) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Bordentown High School (Dunns Mill Road) from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Theater workshop
   Beginning Monday, June 26 — Rising Stars Voice Studio of Bordentown for young children and teens will hold a summer musical theater workshop in Bordentown on Monday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. through Monday, Aug. 28.
   Students will have a chance to improve their singing, acting and dancing talents. Children will also receive four private voice lessons with owner and professional opera singer Sophie Taillefer. Vignettes from Broadway musicals such as "Annie," "Les Miserables" and "The Phantom of the Opera" will be taught ad performed. The final concerts will be held Sept. 8-9.
