Thomas C. Perks
PRINCETON TOWNSHIP Thomas C. Perks Sr., 96, died May 18 at his home.
Mr. Perks was born in Gloucester County in 1910, the son of Gertrude Salzman and Henry Perks. He spent his younger years in Venice, Calif., with his mother and two brothers, Henry Jr. (Harry) and Carl. In his mid-teens he was sent to Princeton to learn the mason trade from his grandfather, Charles Salzman, and uncles Albert and Bill Salzman.
In 1932 he married the former Helen Parriski of Montgomery, who died in 1989. He was the founder of Thomas C. Perks Inc., mason and tile contractors, staying with his business until his retirement in the early 1970s. The business was succeeded by his two sons, Tom Jr. and Larry. Tom Jr. died in 1988.
Mr. Perks is survived by his son, Larry, and his friend, Mary Pelc, both of Princeton, and daughter-in-law Barbara Perks of Plainsboro. He also is survived by four grandchildren and their spouses, Cindy and Bob Bik of Iowa, Sheila and Frank Fisher of Pennsylvania, Laura and Jim Gavalchin of Robbinsville, and Randall and Nubis Perks of Florida; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Princeton First Aid Squad, PO Box 529, Princeton, NJ 08542 in Mr. Perk’s memory.
Marcia A. Owens
EWING Marcia A. Owens, 67, a senior associate at Hillier International, Princeton, died Friday at Care One at Ewing.
Born in Baltimore, she was a resident of Ewing for the past 40 years.
Ms. Owens was a graduate of Rutgers University and employed at Hillier for 38 years before retiring.
Daughter of the late George and Margaret Nelson Owens and loving companion of the late John Holland, she is survived by several dear friends including Sharon Dunham of Robbinsville, Arlene Pancione of West Winsdor, Judy Fair, Carol and Ed Krakowski all of Ewing, Bob and Barbara Hillier of New Hope, Pa., and her beloved cat, Gypsy.
Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 10 a.m. at Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, 1534 Pennington Road, Ewing. Burial will follow at Ewing Cemetery.

Nancy T. Caines
GAITHERSBURG, MD. Nancy T. Caines, 89, died Saturday at the Wilson Health Care Center in Gaithersburg.
Born in New York City, she had been a resident of Trenton, N.J., and New Egypt, N.J., before moving to Maryland.
Ms. Caines was retired from the medical records department at Mercer Hospital in Trenton.
She is survived by a son, Douglas Caines of New Egypt; a daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Dr. Jack Chirikjian of Washington, D.C.; a sister and brother-in-law, Libby and William Young of Albuquerque, N.M.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday at the Church of Assumption in New Egypt.
