Keep guinea fowl
off Anthes’ property
To the editor:
To John Peter Holly of the Mount Hope Cemetery Association: As usual, you either can’t focus on the issue or don’t want to.
At no time has there been a complaint about guinea fowl being on your property or on cemetery property. It is the fact they are on my property, and I’d rather they weren’t.
I do not walk my dogs in the cemetery because, unlike some people, I do not feel this is respectful of those who are interred there to have a pet relieving itself on the grave or headstone of someone’s family member.
So it returns to the fact the cemetery volunteers, who decided to acquire some guinea fowl for deer tick control on cemetery property, are failing to keep them on their designated project area.
Perhaps if you hadn’t taken the $13,500 from your high-placed friend at the state of New Jersey, who didn’t the look of the fence, to have it removed they may have been more manageable. But that’s water over the dam.
And if you really want me to believe they will not wander if two are kept caged, and the other two are left out, then I guess you’ll want to see the photographs from their last trip to Douglas Street.
Maybe you can explain their presence on Swan Street as well since I can’t figure what deer ticks they are getting from the asphalt.
If you are as good a shepherd as you would like to portray yourself, then perhaps you should not wait to vaccinate the guinea fowl for disease, but do it now, much like dog and cat owners are required to do even if they are not left free to roam, to alleviate the concerns of the public.
So the bottom line is, keep your guinea fowl at home or at least on the property or expect to hear continuing complaints.
Lambertville
‘Emotions’ success
for alliances
To rhe editor:
Many thanks to the numerous artists, students, businesses, volunteers and attendees of "Emotions," the community art show held at the Peggy Lewis Gallery in the Lambertville Public Library May 24.
"Emotions" highlighted the artistic talents of individuals within our community in support of substance awareness programming for the Delaware Valley and South Hunterdon municipal alliances.
The alliances were created in 1989 by the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. They consist of volunteers from our community who are dedicated to the prevention of alcohol and substance abuse by sponsoring educational programs and events for the county. The benefits from this show will enable us to continue providing valuable resources to our county.
This event was a tremendous success, both financially and socially! We would like to take this time to thank the following people who we could not have done without:
