Conor J. Browne, Middletown, received his degree in economics at the spring commencement exercises at the United States Military Academy, Armor branch, West Point, N.Y., where he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army upon graduation. He will complete his officer basic course at Fort Knox, Ky. He is the son of Lisa and Chris Browne.

Allen Lin and Grace Liu, both Holmdel, were recently recognized at the 2006 Conservation Education Awards Program hosted by the Freehold Soil Conservation District in Trenton in late May. The students took part in the “Water Wise” conservation poster and bumper sticker contests and illustrated the importance of being “water wise.”
Lin won first place in the poster contest in the grades 10-12 division and received a $100 prize. Liu was honored for a first-place national win for her 2005 “Celebrate Conservation” poster. Her winning poster was selected from entries nationwide at the National Association of Conservation Districts’ annual conference. The state and national winners were also first-place winners at the Freehold Soil Conservation District local level.
The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of the Jersey Shore, Spring Lake Heights, has awarded $15,000 in grants to 15 college-bound students from Monmouth and Ocean counties. Local award recipients are:
