On June 10, the Manalapan Heri-tage Committee presented Manalapan Under the Stars 2006. The weather was almost perfect, except for the windy conditions throughout the day, and the turnout was tre-mendous. Our committee, which consists of 19 volunteers, strived to have something for everyone.
There were craft vendors, demonstrations, exhibits, food, rides, games, pony rides, clowns, characters, entertainment, and of course, a spectacular fireworks finale. Over the last few years the Manalapan Day event has grown into a very large production that takes many months and man hours to prepare and execute.
We would like to thank Manalapan Township administration, Recreation Depart-ment, Fire Bureau, Police Department, Police Explorers, Englishtown-Manal-apan First Aid Squad and the Manalapan and Englishtown fire companies.
We must also thank the Department of Public Works, especially John Lewis and Alan Spector. Their cooperation was tremendous.
Under the supervision of Alan Spector, they helped us execute the plan and were essential in making the day run as smooth as possible. They were on the fields from early in the morning until very late in the evening, providing support, equipment, setup and cleanup.
The entire DPW crew worked as a team and the best part was they did it with terrific attitudes and smiles on their faces.
Once again, we want to thank all of you who helped to make this day a great success and look forward to working with you as we begin to prepare for Manalapan Day 2007.
