for first golf classic
St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church and School, Holmdel, will host its first golf classic Oct. 16 at Bella Vista Country Club, Marlboro. Discounted fees are available for individuals registering before July 1.
Fee includes breakfast, greens fees, cart, driving range, on course beverages, and buffet lunch. Nongolfers may register for just the luncheon which will include a silent auction, contest awards and other activities. Sponsorships and journal advertisements are also available.

American Cancer Society ball June 24
The American Cancer Society will hold its 39th annual ball June 24 at 6 p.m. at the Navesink Riverfront estate of Morgan Cline and Ben Donofrio.
The event will be held under several tents set in the tone of Palm Beach, and will feature fashions from Belmondo, Shrewsbury, which will also donate 10 percent of the proceeds from each gown purchased for the cancer ball. The event will feature a cocktail hour, various foods, and live and silent auctions. There will also be a raffle of a 2006 Black Mercedes Benz SLK 280, at the cost of $100 per ticket, and the auction of a $15,000 pearl necklace.
