Greater Media Newspapers recognized young achievers at a luncheon held at Branches banquet hall in West Long Branch June 15.
Valley National Bank sponsored the event, which was in honor of young men and women ages 16-21 who were selected to be profiled in the Future Leaders special section. The section was published in Greater Media Newspapers’ 12 weekly papers on June 1 and 2. This was the first year the newspaper group offered the Future Leaders special section, and 120 nominees were chosen to be profiled out of more than 200 nomination forms that were sent in by parents, teachers, coaches, guidance counselors and employers.
Greater Media Newspapers Publisher Kevin Wittman and Dr. Stephen Nacco, executive director of Marketing Services at Brookdale Community College, Middletown, spoke before the audience of 227 people, more than 50 of whom were featured as Future Leaders. Staff members from Greater Media Newspapers were also on hand to congratulate the young honorees.
Wittman lauded the local youths and encouraged their dreams and goals for the future. Nacco also praised the talented youths for their community service, as well as their personal and academic successes.
The Future Leaders were presented with framed, color copies of their profile articles.
