Jessica Brooke Steinberg, daughter of Bobbie and Stephen Steinberg of East Brunswick, recently earned a bachelor’s degree in special education, cum laude, from Kean University, Union, where she was named to the dean’s list and was a member of the Lambda Alpha Sigma honor society. She teaches special-education Hebrew school at the East Brunswick Jewish Center, where she also serves as youth adviser.
Tiffany Sloan, daughter of Robyn and Seth Sloan of East Brunswick, recently graduated from the University of Hartford, West Hartford, Conn., where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in education, cum laude. A member of Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education, she also served as president of Delta Gamma sorority. She will pursue a master’s degree in school psychology from Seton Hall University, South Orange.
Desiree Macaro of Milltown, a junior at Montclair State University College of Family and Child Studies, Upper Montclair, recently was inducted into the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, which recognizes her accomplishments and achievements as one of the top 3 percent of all juniors in her field, and Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education. She also is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society and the Golden Key International Honor Society.
Jessica Lynn Carraturo, a senior studying graphic arts at Monmouth University, West Long Branch, and daughter of Kathy and Dominick Carraturo of South River, has been awarded the Jersey Shore Public Relations and Advertising Association (JSPRAA) Award in the organization’s Jasper Awards Program-Cover Contest. The theme of this year’s contest was “Treasure at the Jersey Shore.” Carraturo’s design, which featured coins and jewels in the sand, won out over 73 other entries in the competition. She will receive the Gold Jasper Award, have a printed portfolio piece and be the guest at the Jasper Awards in September at the PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel. A 2003 graduate of South River High School, she has been featured in “The National Dean’s List” for the past three years.
Alexandra Schmidt of East Brunswick, a junior at Lafayette College, Easton, Pa., recently participated in the Gateway to Dentistry program at the New Jersey Dental School, Newark. The hands-on, two-week program introduced Alexandra to various facets of the dental profession, including medical instruments, proper techniques and scientific explanations for dental conditions. A graduate of East Brunswick High School, she plans to attend dental school after graduation from Lafayette.
Nathan Finke, son of Shirley and Paul Finke of East Brunswick, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Wisconsin Lutheran College, Milwaukee, where he is a senior.
Amanda Warley, daughter of Janet and Richard Warley of Spotswood, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Montclair State University, Upper Montclair, where she is a senior majoring in justice studies with a concentration in child advocacy.
Lysa A. Rogol, daughter of Heidi and Chuck Rogol of East Brunswick, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in early childhood and special education. She is a graduate of East Brunswick High School.
Krysti Schurott of East Brunswick was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Rider University, Lawrenceville section of Lawrence, where she is a freshman majoring in elementary education and psychology with a minor in special education.
Dominick Petrellese of Milltown was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Berklee College of Music, Boston.
