Paul V. Orecchia, an attorney at the Toms River law firm of Carluccio, Leone, Dimon, Doyle & Sachs, and Nate Brown, a computer consultant and owner of Comconico Inc., Jackson, have formed Contributech Inc., a nonprofit organization designed to help low-income or disadvantaged children and their families keep up with the use of computers through donations of computer equipment, education and training.

Contributech is actively looking for donations of used or new computer equipment. Contributech will refurbish the donated computer equipment, give it to needy children, and then oversee educational activities such as seminars and programs that will give needy famiies the same advantages in using computers that many other families have.

Other members of the board of trustees of Contributech are Anne Ettore, Ocean; Joseph Craparotta, of Hightstown; Lawrence Sargent, of Wall, and Lisa Poletti, of Morganville. Brown is the executive director of Contributech.

Marc S. Standig of Marlboro has been appointed interim president of the New Jersey Society of Enrolled Agents, which is affiliated with the National Association of Enrolled Agents, for the remainder of the 2006 governance year.

According to a press release, enrolled agents are tax practitioners empowered by the federal government to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service for audits, collections and appeals.

Standig is a fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute.

Babies “R” Us will host a “Nursery Know-How Workshop” July 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its Manalapan store, 17 Route 9 south. There will be seminars and informal discussion on how to select furniture and decor for the new baby’s room.

Daniel L. Weiss, a partner in the Paterson and Freehold law firm of Shulman & Weiss LLP, where he practices immigration law, was installed as a GLBT (Gay Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender) at-large trustee to the New Jersey State Bar Association. The 45-member board of trustees manages the affairs and operation of the association.

A member of the N.J. State Bar Association since 1991, Weiss is the founder and immediate past chair of the association’s GLBT Rights Committee. He also serves as a member of the Diversity Committee and Meeting Arrangements and Program Committee. He is active within the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and is the founder and past chair of the National Gay and Lesbian Interest Group within AILA. He was appointed by AILA’s president in January to serve as chair of the GLBT AILA Immigration Issues Working Group and is a past chair of the AILA New Jersey Young Lawyers Division. He serves as vice chair for the District IX Ethics Committee, Monmouth County.

Weiss holds membership in the Passaic and Monmouth counties’ bar associations.

Annette Catino, president and chief executive officer of QualCare Inc., has been awarded the 2006 EPIC (Exemplary People Impacting the Community) Award by the Institute of Nursing, New Jersey State Nurses Association.

Catino, a resident of Millstone, is the founder of QualCare, which is sponsored by New Jersey’s 14 nonprofit hospital systems and physician organizations. It is a provider-owned managed-care company that serves more than 500,000 people.

Catino also received one of NJBIZ’s Best 50 Women in Business awards for 2006.

CentraState Healthcare System, Freehold Township, announced that patients rated CentraState Medical Center in the top 10 percent for the first quarter in the state, regionally or nationally, in four key service areas, according to Press Ganey Associates, a patient satisfaction measurement and improvement firm.

Patients rated overall inpatient services in the 99th percentile in New Jersey among 57 peer hospitals, and in the 97th percentile in the U.S. among 923 hospitals of similar size. Emergency services were ranked in the 97th percentile nationally among 365 peer hospitals. Overall outpatient services were in the 96th percentile in the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania region, and 96th percentile nationally among 713 peer hospitals. Ambulatory surgery was ranked in the 93rd percentile in New Jersey among 43 peer hospitals, and in the 98th percentile in the U.S. among 738 peer hospitals.

Chelsea Assisted Living, 445 Route 9 south, Manalapan, will host a free interactive workshop for individuals affected by care-giving. “From Reactive to Proactive” will share insights for caregivers’ well-being and stress reduction through caregiver assessment techniques. Corcorde Limousine, Freehold, is participating in America Supporting Americans (ASA) Foster-a-Unit program, a nonprofit organization to support the morale of troops in military units both at home and overseas.

Concorde will be “fostering” a regiment of 173 service members who are home-based out of Fort Campbell, Ky. The 101st Airborne Division, 506th Regimental Combat Team, has been deployed since mid-October 2005.
